The Mole Episode 6-8 Review: Another Day in the Moleverse

The Mole is a reality game show released on Netflix on 7th October 2022. It is a reimagined version of a reality competition, which ran for five seasons on ABC beginning in 2002 and was hosted by Anderson Cooper.

It’s based on the still-running Belgian series, De Mol, which debuted in 1998 and has inspired numerous international versions since. Until now, eight episodes have been released so far and the new episode will air weekly, with next week being the finale.

The cast members competing in the series are Avori Henderson, Casey Lary, Dom Gabriel, Greg Shapiro, Jacob Hacker, Joi Schweitzer, Kesi Neblett, Osei White, Pranav Patel, Samara Joy, Sandy Ronquillo, and William Richardson. The show is presented by MSNBC host Alex Wagner.

-The Mole Episode 6-8 Review Contain Some Spoilers-

It is a high-stakes competition series, which started with twelve players working together in challenges to add money to a pot that only one of them will win at the end. Among the players is one person who has secretly been designated “the Mole” and tasked with sabotaging the group’s money-making efforts. In the end, one player will outlast their competition and expose the saboteur to win the prize pot.

The players compete in mental and physical challenges in an attempt to win money to add to a prize pot. If the players complete their challenge, they win the full prize pot. However, the saboteur will try to chip away at that prize money one challenge at a time. After each set of challenges, the players take a quiz that tests whether they know the identity of the Mole.

The person who answers the fewest questions correctly gets eliminated. One at a time, each player is randomly sent their results individually via text message. If the screen on their phone goes green, they’re safe. But if it’s red, they’re immediately eliminated from the game.

So far, after the first five episodes, only Avori, Casey, Greg, Jacob, Joi, Kesi, Pranav and Will are left. The 6th episode starts with another elimination where Pranav gets eliminated and other players are taken on a high-stakes climb through the Blue Mountains. It pushes the players physically and mentally and begins to shift suspicion onto some new targets.

It may seem straightforward enough, but surviving elimination is incredibly complicated. Some players attempt to appear truthful and consistently ethical to attempt to prove that they’re not the Mole, while others act suspiciously in order to throw off people’s guesses and eliminate others first. Even how you take the test, some go all in on one person, and others spread their answers over a number of targets, just in case they’re wrong.

And Pranav fell to one of the tricks by Avory and put his all in on her suspicious behaviour, losing the chance in the game. While the high-intensity task was to add more money to their pot, in the next episode, the six players remaining after another elimination head to Sydney, where they’ll need to spot subtle differences between genuine and fake.

As the group of players gets shorter, people are keeping an eye on everyone very closely and every action is viewed through the filter of suspicion. The episodes shed more light on Jacob, Kesi and Casey, as they are some of the contestants who keep a low profile, yet are going strong in the game.

Summing Up: The Mole Episode 6-8

Currently, the players are in Sydney and going through their own quiz answers, to figure out who is the saboteur. They have raked in a good amount in their pot but in these three episodes, we haven’t seen the mole making any move. The case of stealing cash in the first mission hasn’t returned yet, nor has there been a hidden mission by the mole.

The show is in its final rounds now, with only two episodes left. Episode 6-8 was a chance for the players to increase the winning prize and there has to be some big twist in the next episode, for a dramatic effect or to remind them of what is at stake. So far, Joi has been under the radar for being the saboteur but I really dont think she is.

She just really has a weird game plan and it really cracks me up, when she gets angry at others for taking the elimination card like she didn’t gamble the whole prize money to be safe. If I were taking the quiz, my answers would be spread around Jacob and Kesi, and really think that the mole could be among the two.
