The Joys and Sorrows of Young Yuguo is Netflix’s upcoming documentary that will touch our hearts with its moving story depicting the dreams of a young dragon. Directed by Ilinca Calugareanu, the movie stars Haoming Chen.
The Joys and Sorrows of Young Yuguo revolve around the journey of the young Yin Yuguo whose love for East European romantic poetry takes him all the way to the foothills of Romania’s Carpathian Mountains. The movie that is filmed over 80 days shows the teen’s journey to the country that stole his heart, and now he makes his impact by showing his sincerity to the people there.
The trailer shows the young man introducing himself as Yin Yuguo who shares his dream in which he is a dragon that can go far off into the world to find his true home. Yuguo then talks about his interest in East European literature, especially romantic poems, followed by his dream of going to Romania because that is the country of Literature in his heart.

The scene shifts to a professor in a university in Romania who shares his thoughts about the time when he got an application from a student who wrote “I’m in love with Romania.”
Having realised his dream and becoming a student in the country he loves, the young boy shares his excitement and awes the people after giving his speech in fluent Romanian.
The young boy’s love for Romania became important for the people there too because, through his love for the country, they are reconnected to their country. Looking at Romania through his eyes got them closer to the beautiful country they live in.
And just like that, the dragon finally found his home.

The trailer brings joy to the viewers because there are times when we too forget the beautiful lands we live in until someone else makes us reconnect with our own lands. The influence the young boy had on the people was the connection that they needed and this journey is definitely one that will fill our hearts.
The Joys and Sorrows of Young Yuguo is set to release on Netflix on October 6, 2022.
