Alchemy of Souls (환혼) is a 2022 Korean fantasy drama which is set in the imaginary world of Daeho. The story revolves around young magicians who are to carry the burden of the past. Starring Lee Jae-wook, Jung So-min and Hwang Min-hyun, the show premiered on tvN on Jun 18, 2022. The show will have 20 episodes and it takes over tvN’s Saturday-Sunday 9 PM KST timeslot previously occupied by Our Blues. Alchemy of Souls episode 11 has a runtime of 79 minutes.

Alchemy of Souls episode 11 starts off where the last episode left off. In front of Sejukwon, the two continue their exchange about the letter and it is clear that Jang Uk has read Mu-deok’s feelings but she is not ready to take this forward. She burns the letter and tells him to forget about it.
Jang Uk on the other hand is not ready to let go and tells her that now that he has read the Words of the Heart he is able to see words that cannot be seen. He says that one must focus as he stares into her eyes, seeing her love for him just like the blue mark of a soul shifter. Mu-deok tells him that he has caught another weakness of hers but he refutes that this is a weakness that they both share.
Mu-deok accepts her anxiety when she was not next to him and thought about poisoning him but it seems like he has already poisoned himself with the poison of feelings. A poison which can only be countered by a person and this person is a dangerous assassin. This angers Jang Uk and he is not happy that the confession of his feelings has been ruled out as poisoning.
He tells her that if it is true then she should take responsibility because she is the antidote to his poison. Tells her that she has to know the symptoms and face the toxins because of the way she labelled his sincere feelings. The two glare at each other and the scene shifts.
Park Dong-gu greets the new recruits and announces a treat for everyone. The recruiter asks him if he is acquainted with Mu-deok and gives him a bag containing Mu-deok’s uniform and plaque. Elsewhere, Seo Yul understands that the one Naksu (Mu-deok) likes is Jang Uk when Park Dong-gu arrives. He shows Seo Yul the whistle he left in Danhyanggok that was found in Mu-deok’s bag.
Later, Mu-deok comes to find her back when Seo Yul gives it to her and asks about the whistle. However, he soon changes the topic and tells her that it must be because she loves him. She tells that he never believed that but he tells her to make him believe in those words. He then tells her that the whistle belonged to a friend whom he ended up liking but could never tell her about his feelings which leaves Mu-deok speechless.
Elsewhere, Park Dong-gu tells Jang Uk that there must be something going on between Mu-deok and Seo Yul. This leaves Jang Uk speechless as later that night he is embarrassed about showing his feeling to Mu-deok, thinking that she must have rejected him because she likes Seo Yul.

In Danhyanggok, master Lee and Heo Yeom are discussing Park Jin’s plan to keep Jang Uk in Songrim. Master Lee tell him to let Park Jin do what he is doing as he knows about the birth of Jang Uk and about the ice stone. Then he gets angry at Heo Yeom for dirtying the scarf given by Kim Do-ju.
At Songrim, Mu-deok is busy with her duties when she sees that Jang Uk has not come to his class. Angered, she rushes to wake him up but he tells her to leave him alone as he has been poisoned. Having no choice she gives a little aegyo which leaves him speechless and he leaves. For the next few days Jang Uk is listless as he keeps giving up opportunities to exchange knowledge with other and is found sleeping around. Mu-deok feeling helpless goes to Sang Ho only to be told that he won’t interfere as long as Jang Uk follows the rules.
Jang Uk then asks him for permission to go back home for some time while Mu-deok is left behind because she cannot leave. In the Jin family house, Park Jin has come to give the Word of the Heart to be kept in Jinyowon when the topic shifts to Jin Ho-kyung’s eldest daughter. The child who was born after 13 months, Jin Ho-kyung accidentally reveals that she gave birth on the day Jang Kang told her which leaves Park Jin shocked.
A flashback takes us to the pregnant Jin Ho-kyung asking Jang Kang to bring back her child’s soul from death with the help of the ice stone. This memory only makes her more determined to find her daughter. Elsewhere, Park Jin finds out that Jin Mu had met Jin Ho-kyung before him and wonders what he has planned this time.
In Cheonbugwon, Jin Mu is trying to match the girls that his subordinates have found with a picture of Jin Bu-yeon and So Yi is among these girls. However, he finds out that she is not blind and wants to kill her but she assures him that she can be blind and after passing his test she become Jin Bo-yeon.
In Songrim, Mu-deok is thinking about how to push Jang Uk this time when she finds the crown prince. Seeing him she gets an idea and gets him to make a bet with her. Elsewhere, Jang Uk is missing Mu-deok while looking at his jade egg when Kim Do-ju enters. Listening to her encouraging words and her acceptability of his choices he is filled with energy and goes back to Songrim.
However, Jang Uk is met with a surprise upon reaching Songrim where his fellow mages are ready to duel him. After losing the first duel Jang Uk questions the crown prince who is present there about the situation. The crown prince tells him that this is a bet between Mu-deok and him and the object of the bet is the jade egg that he had given Mu-deok. According to the deal made between them, Jang Uk is given ten opponents and if he is able to defeat even one then Mu-deok wins, and if not then he wins.

Jang Uk is left shocked when he sees the jade egg in the crown prince’s palm and looks at Mu-deok who only tells him to win. As the crown prince has prepared gold toads for the winner of these duels everyone is excited to participate. However, Jang Uk questions the reason why Mu-deok made this bet.
He is disappointed that this was the weakness Mu-deok was referring to and is unable to make out what she is thinking. He does not want to participate in this bet but is forced to fight by Mu-deok. He lets out an angry laugh and decides to participate because he doesn’t want to share a jade with the crown prince.
In Cheonbugwon, Jin Mu asks the crown prince about his visits to Sejukwon when he notices the jade in his hand. Jin Mu then tells him that the jade contains yin energy and these usually come in the repair which makes him realise that the other jade must be with Jang Uk. Elsewhere, master Lee has come to visit Kim Do-ju with flowers.
Park Jin has also come to meet Kim Do-ju and finds her walking with flowers in a vase. He tells her that he has come to see if she was sick because she hasn’t come to meet him in a while. She tells him that he should’ve come with flowers, subtly hinting at something else and then very smoothly kicks him out.

Park Dong-gu and Jin Cho-yeon are wandering in the market when she tells him that Jin Mu is searching for her sister and that this time they might actually find her. She is happy because she will now have the freedom to marry the person she loves while the disheartened Park Dong-gu confesses his feeling for her and wishes her luck to find that person. Jin Cho-yeon is surprised and soon rushes behind him and tells him that she likes him too.
Park Jin is buying flowers to be sent to Kim Do-ju when he sees Park Dong-gu and Jin Cho-yeon together and holding hands. He takes Park Dong-gu back and asks him about his relationship with Jin Cho-yeon and during this discussion Park Dong-gu reveals that Cheonbugwon is helping Jin family get back the lost daughter.
Alchemy Of Souls Episode 11 Ending
Alchemy Of Souls episode 10 ends with Park Jin informing master Lee about this information and telling him that if Cheonbugwon gets Jinyowon on their side then they can easily counter Songrim. If this happens then they will even be able to bring out the ice stone. Master Lee then tells him that the ice stone is not evil but the people who make the Soul Ejector out of it that are evil. He tells him that a Choi family member did this 200 years back as the scene changes to the queen doing it in the present.

Jin Mu is brought a new batch of Soul Ejectors that he is using to fulfil the desires of powerful people who can be of help to Cheonbugwon. In a room full of powerful mages, he performs the alchemy of souls and gives them hope of a future where they can perform this sorcery out in the open. Among these mages is the husband of Jin Ho-kyung, as the two order So Yi to win her heart and bring her to this place.
Elsewhere, master Lee tells Park Jin that the child with the King’s star must have been born to counter the troubles that are to be caused by the ice stone. He also tells him that master Seo Gyeong was also born with the same star, but Park Jin reminds him that Jang Uk was born through alchemy. Master Lee tells him that this is what intrigues him and he is waiting for what will be his fate.
Jang Uk’s days of duels continue as he continues to lose them one after the other. Coming down to the last three gold toads by the end of the episode, Mu-deok hopes that he will only get stronger by the pain that he is facing.
Alchemy Of Souls Episode 11 Review
Alchemy of Souls episode 11 was filled with content, no doubt looking at the long recap of the episode. I would have expected the tension between our protagonists might see a little leeway but looks like things have only gotten worse. Jang Uk is so good at reading words that can’t be seen and yet he is beginning to doubt those very words. How is he unable to see the feelings pouring out for him and not Seo Yul.

This brings me to our perfect Seo Yul who is going to be giving us some major second lead syndrome. He is on the road to a very sad ending and the OST specified to him only makes matters worse. I just hope that there is something good hidden somewhere for him. Do you think Heo Yoon-ok could be the one for him?
Let us move forward to the couples where romance is blooming in full swing today! Park Dong-gu and Jin Cho-yeon have finally become official and his words of always being stuck to her seem to point to some really big troubles for the pair. Maybe her mother will force her to marry the crown prince which would test the two’s relationship.
On the other hand, Park Jin doesn’t seem to be doing too well with his incapability of understanding the situation. While I like master Lee, I hope that he doesn’t sweep away Kim Do-ju because of Park Jin’s dense mind.
Now coming to the show’s mysterious side that keeps unveiling deep secrets in each episode. With Jin Ho-kyung’s 13 months of pregnancy to the secret society of mages that are connected to Cheonbugwon. None of them is any less intriguing and both are doing a great job at making us more excited! While Daeho is soon to be surrounded by dark clouds, how will our hero develop their power?
