MasterChef Australia Season 14 Episode 62 Review: The Winner Is…

MasterChef Australia Season 14 Episode 62 is the grand finale episode of the cooking competition show. Billie and Sarah will compete in the finale to win the MasterChef title. Judges Andy Allen, Melissa Leong and Jock Zonfrillo, inform the two finalists that the last episode will have only 2 rounds instead of three. In the end, whoever scores the highest points will be the winner.

In the first round, Billie and Sarah are given a choice either to cook using a Mystery Box or with a brief and cloche. Both the cooks chose brief and cloche to cook their first finale dishes. The duo had 75 minutes to prepare a delicious dish that would impress the judges.

Sarah cooked sticky wingettes with a sweet and savoury gravy. The judges loved the wingettes and the flavours in her gravy. Billie made a dessert dish – cumin panna cotta with rosemary and rhubarb. Even though her dish was tasty, the panna cotta wasn’t set well. The judges score Sarah 26 points, and Billie gets 21 points.

In the second round of MasterChef Australia Season 14 Episode 62, Billie and Sarah have to recreate Heston Blumenthal’s, Taffety Tart. There are 10 elements in the dish, and the finalists get 5 hours and 15 minutes to cook the dish. Sarah finished the entire dish, but the judges had trouble cutting her puff pastry as it was hard. The texture of her vanilla ice cream was also unbalanced.

Billie wasn’t happy with a few of her elements which affected the completion of her dish. The judges loved all the other elements of her dish. Sarah scored 23 in the second round, and Billie got 28.

Who is the winner of MasterChef Australia Season 14 Episode 66?

Billie McKay scored 58 points in the grand finale, whereas Sarah’s final score was 56. Thus, Billie becomes the winner of MasterChef Australia Season 14. This is the second time Billie has won the title. She was also the winner of MasterChef Australia in season 7.

The $250,000 main prize was rewarded to Billie McKay, and Sarah Todd took home the $30,000 runner-up award. Third-place finisher Daniel Lamble was awarded $20,000.

After winning the competition, Billie took to her Instagram page to share her thoughts. She wrote, “oly bloody hell. You guys, I cannot believe it! This is a moment I will NEVER FORGET!!!! Thank you, @masterchefau for so much that I will elaborate on very soon. Right now I am taking it all in. ????”.

MasterChef Australia Season 14 Episode 62 Review: Final Thoughts

Congratulations, Billie!

Well, the show is now over. Although I enjoyed seeing the delicious dishes, I wish someone from the Fans would’ve made it to the finals. After all, it was their first and probably only chance to be the cook.

  1. The article is wrong, Billie completed her entire dish in round 2. She wasn’t happy with her pastry and her crumble, so she remade it. It cut into her time when assembling her final dish but all her elements were complete and on the plate.

  2. From my point of view (I am a regular viewer from Overseas), the grand finale featured a conflict of interest. The blablabla explaining that the recipe was not from the Fat Duck was pathetic. A pressure test with a dessert from Heston Blumenthal? Come on. The table was set for Billy. to win for a second time. I like Billy a lot but that was not fair.
