The Time Traveler’s Wife: 3 Best Moments From HBO Max’s Romantic Science Fiction

The Time Traveler’s Wife on HBO Max seems to be on everyone’s mind currently. The show did not start off well with audiences having problems with the age dynamics between the characters during certain segments. However, by the end of the first season, everyone seemed to have warmed up to the idea of the two very endearing and loving protagonists in the show.

Created by Steven Moffat, the series is directed by Game of Thrones’ David Nutter and produced by Warner Bros. Television and Hartswood Films. It is based on Audrey Niffenegger’s novel of the same name. The show stars Rose Leslie as Clare Abshire, Theo James as Henry DeTamble along with Caitlin Shorey, Everleigh McDonell, Brian Altemus, Jason David, Kate Siegel, Desmin Borges, Natasha Lopez, Michael Park, Jaime Ray Newman and Taylor Richardson.

The Time Traveler’s Wife gave us a unique take on romance as well as science fiction. The show had some really beautiful moments and, today we are taking a look at the three most lovely ones out of the lot.

After Clare and Henry hit a rocky road in the first episode, it was the second one that helped the two build their relationship better. Towards the end of the episode, Henry takes Clare to the library’s archive section and introduces her to his mother, who is no longer living. You ask how?

Well, Henry plays a recording of his singer mother, who back in time has already answered a question asked by the Clare in the present- ‘How the hell does any couple stay together?’. Clare is visibly shocked but, Henry explains that he had decided that whenever was the next time he met his mother by time travelling to the past, he would leave her with this question and it Clare’s first interaction with her. Herny’s mother leaves Clare and Henry both with an emotional reply and this segment is truly overwhelming as it is dedicated to doomed love. You can check out the episode, here.

The Time Traveler’s Wife Episode 5: The Merging of Two Henrys

By the fifth episode of The Time Traveler’s Wife when the present timeline’s Henry goes to meet Clare’s family for the first time, it is somewhere clear that Clare is still seeking out a more mature version of Henry- the one that used to visit her when she was young, the one she grew up with.

After Henry uncontrollably time travels to the future during the family dinner, meets Gomez, and heads back injured, making Clare’s family doubt her for being violent with Henry, Clare has had enough of the instability the new Henry brings with himself and lashes out at the dinner table. The 28-year-old Henry finally decides to be the man Clare has been seeking and decides to cut his hair short, much like the future Henry.

A broken Clare looks at Henry with short hair for the first time and confesses how she has always loved him. She finally says yes to the question Henry asked her on her eighteenth birthday about being his wife then and the two lovers end up in each other’s arms. Watch it, here.

The Time Traveler’s Wife Episode 6: The Wedding Twist

A very complicated yet important segment of the entire story took place during the final moments of the season finale when an older Clare meets a younger Henry stuck in the future during her wedding day in her past and, the future Henry at the altar with the younger Clare. Infamously, known as the Shoe Polish Day, the older Clare and younger Henry in the future share heartfelt, difficult but crucial conversations about love and life. You can watch the episode, here.
