Glamour Girls Reactions: Fans Are Feeling Mixed But Praise the Actors

Glamour Girls is the latest drama film from Nollywood that was released on Netflix on 24 June. The film was said to be a remake of the 1994 version of the film with the same name. The classic film was a big success at the time and was considered a pioneer that showed women in bold roles, trying to make a living in a traditionally patriarchal society.

2022 version of the film was said to be similar to the original but with a modern touch to accommodate the current times. The synopsis of the film read – the world of high-end escorts promises glamour, wealth and the chance of reinvention for a group of women — till a killing and theft threaten it all. Starring Nse Ikpe-Etim, Sharon Ooja, Joselyn Dumas, Temisan Emmanuel and others.

The audience was awaiting the release of Glamour Girls knowing its connection with the old classic, but since its release on Netflix, the reactions to the film have been variably mixed. Some were disappointed with the confusing storylines while some found the film entertaining. But everyone was in praise of the actors who played the characters of Donna, Emma and Jemma.

Especially the actor who played Emma, Sharon Ooja was highly mentioned for a growth in her performance range and the different looks she portrayed in the film. Meanwhile, the film at large has left the audience in a state of confusion and questioning a lot of the storylines that were not concluded well. The only good thing that the creators can do for public service, is to drop the playlist of songs that were used throughout the film.
