Cafe Minamdang: Everything You Need to Know About the Mysterious Seo In-guk Starrer!

Netflix is hammering it home that it’s really into Korean dramas, just like us. If you’ve been missing your Monday evening fix, then worry not, the streaming giant is back with a bang with its newest Korean fare. With Alchemy of Souls swooning us with its storyline and Remarriage and Desires on its way to steal our hearts, Cafe Minamdang comes at a very interesting juncture.

Cafe Minamdang (미남당) is a mystery-drama TV series directed by Ko Jae-hyun and written by Park Hye-jin, the series is based on the book Minamdang: Sagun Soochub written by Jung Jae-han. The series is slated to come out on KBS2 and on Netflix and is created by Park Hye-jin, Ko Jae-hyun and Yun Ra-young.

Cafe Minamdang Plot

Netflix describes the series as: “A suspicious business that offers the services of a purportedly all-knowing shaman catches the attention of a tenacious police inspector.”

The series follows criminal profiler-turned-fraudster Nam Han-joon who turns himself into a fortune teller and uses his shop Minamdang to lure in customers and fleece them. However, he also uses his criminal profiler background to help those in need and provide “customer service” as well. When his unjust ways come to the attention of detective Han Jae-hee, their lives get intertwined and so do the hilarious situations that they find themselves in!

Cafe Minamdang Cast

The mystery-drama TV series stars Seo In-guk (Doom At Your Service), Oh Yeon-seo (Mad For Each Other), Kwak Si-yang (Lovers of the Red Sky), Kang Mi-na (Moonshine), Kwon Soo-hyun and Jung Ha-joon, alongside other cast members.

In-guk starts as fraudster shaman Nam Han-joon while Yeon-seo is detective Jae-hee. Along with them, we have Kwak Si-yang and Kang Mi-na who help Han-joon run the cafe as Gong Soo-cheol and Nam Hye-joon respectively.

Cafe Minamdang Release Date and More

The series is all set to release on June 27 and promises rib-tickling fun and some serious drama… and maybe even hints of romance! The series will have 18 episodes and will stream from June 27 to Aug 23, 2022, every Monday and Tuesday. It will have a runtime of around 60 minutes, which is standard for Korean dramas and takes over KBS2’s Monday-Tuesday 09.30 PM slot previously occupied by Bloody Heart.
