Better Call Saul Season 6: Bob Odenkirk and Patrick Fabian Talk About Filming the Fight Scene

Better Call Saul Season 6 has released 5 episodes so far. In episode 5, Black and Blue, we saw Bob Odenkirk’s Saul Goodman and Patrick Fabian’s Howard Hamlin fighting in the boxing ring. Howard is pretty furious at Saul as he tries to ruin his image on the professional front. We don’t want to give a lot of spoilers, but Howard is unaware that the mastermind behind these plans was Rhea Seehorn, aka Kim Wexler.

After Cliff confronts Howard about his behaviour (for which Saul and Kim are responsible), he loses his sh*t. Howards challenges Saul for a boxing match. The two fight out, and Howard wins the match. Fans loved to watch these two grown-up men in the boxing ring. In a video shared by the show’s team, Bob and Patrick talk about filming the sequence.

Bob Odenkirk says, “We got to play “real guys” jumping in the ring. I had a great time pretending to beat up Howard Hamlin, Patrick Fabian.”

He adds, “Look, we’re both in better shape than these characters. Stay in shape if you’re planning to have a heart attack. But the boxing trainer said, “Wait, wait… People do this all the time. They come in off the street to the boxing gyms and say, ‘Let’s go’. Between 30 and 60 seconds, they are exhausted. So he said, ‘Go that way’. It was really fun to play. I hope you enjoy it.”

Patrick Fabian shares, “No, I’ve never fought and yes, Bob Odenkirk star of Nobody actually has been trained as a badass fighter. So he knew what he was doing and I didn’t know anything. Bob, a couple of times as he sees this rabid dog (points at himself) he would just raise his hands and go, ‘Ah, I think it’s a cut’.”
