I’m Quitting Heroing Episode 6 Overview

Things seem to be escalating quickly. After Leo had met up with runaway Mernes in the previous episode, he realised the latter was suffering from a lack of communication skills. Mernes next task involved interviewing new members for the Demon army. This is an important job, and he needs to be able to communicate well and interview the applicants. Mernes could not handle the pressure, and since this task could not be done by his juniors, he ran away.

After Leo had helped Mernes to learn communication by disguising themselves as helpers in the canteen, they grew closer together. From being dressed up as a maid to disciplining werewolves, Mernes has started to come out of his shell and bond with Leo. We start I’m Quitting Heroing Episode 6, pondering on a very important question posed by Mernes- why did Leo join the demon army? He has demonstrated his wits and strength. If revenge against humanity was his actual motive, he could have easily accomplished himself without any help. What is Leo hiding?

We had previously seen a scene in I’m Quitting Heroing that looked like the modern world. Tall skyscrapers populated the city. The roads were paved, with cars bustling all around. People could be seen holding cell phones. Compared to the magic-centric Capital we are witnessing throughout the series Yuusha Yamemasu, this seemed like a stark contrast. Are these just dreams? Or is Leo been reincarnated all the way into the modern world? Is Leo’s reasoning for quitting heroing linked to this?

Aside from the speculations, Yuusha Yamemasu Episode 6 is one of the best episodes the series had by far. Not only was Mernes’ character portrayed well, but we also get a much deeper insight into Leo and his decisions. Mernes’ backstory and his eventual entry into the demon army seemed like a very real decision. Rather than the work advice the previous episodes have focused upon, Leo talks about himself. We get a bigger picture of what made Leo a hero in the first place.
