The 2021 historical fiction, Spencer, took the world by storm with Stewart playing the titular role of Princess Diana. The film revolves around the existential crisis the princess was overwhelmed with during the Christmas of 1991 when she was considering divorcing Prince Charles and leaving the British royal family. Stewart delivers one of the best on-screen representations of the world’s most loved Princess as she takes us through a journey of conflict, mental health, family and more. The psychological drama is directed by Pablo Larraín and written by Steven Knight and, is currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video.

Clouds of Sils Maria

Another psychological drama starring Kristen Stewart alongside Juliette Binoche and Chloë Grace Moretz, Clouds of Sils Maria tells the story of a popular middle-aged actress who is cast in a romantic lesbian drama opposite a newcomer and, is soon overwhelmed by personal and professional insecurities as her relationship with her personal assistant turns sexual. The film was one of the main competitors for the Palme d’Or at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival and, has been praised for the wonderful performances by the actors.

Happiest Season

With all her heavy roles, Stewart has also given the viewers easy and fun films to cherish. The 2020 romantic comedy, Happiest Season, is one of them. Directed by Clea DuVall from a screenplay written by DuVall and Mary Holland, the film stars Stewart alongside Mackenzie Davis in the lead roles and, is a Christmas story of a woman who struggles to admit to her conservative parents about her sexuality and partner. The film is now streaming on Netflix.
