Bloody Brothers (2022) Review: Jaideep Ahlawat, Mohd. Zeeshan Ayyub’s Show is Quite Confusing

Bloody Brothers is a comedy-thriller TV series starring Jaideep Ahlawat, Mohd. Zeeshan Ayyub and Tina Desai, alongside other cast members. The series consists of 6 episodes, each with a runtime of around 30-50 minutes.

Zee5 describes the series as:

A gripping story with a hint of dark comedy and thriller, ‘Bloody Brothers’ is a tale that tests the relationship between two brothers. When Jaggi Grover and Daljeet Grover, two brothers, get involved in a crime, it threatens to change the course of their lives.

Bloody Brothers does not take its time to get to the point. The series gives us a brief look into Jaggi and Daljeet’s relationship as well as giving us a murder within that first minute. This is a funny series, one that promises chills and thrills in the form of this murder. But, more than anything, the relationship between the two brothers is what keeps this thriller interesting.

Daljeet is the more innocent of the two and Jaggi’s cold and calculated demeanour will give you sort of whiplash as these two people work off each other. Of course, Ahlawat and Ayyub are seasoned actors and it’s great to watch their chemistry together. Their antics are both hilarious and a bit concerning. Both of these feelings work together in the series splendidly. There’s both a sense of foreboding of shit hitting the fan and some light-heartedness working with it.

Bloody Brothers (2022) Review: Jaideep Ahlawat, Mohd. Zeeshan Ayyub's Show is Quite Confusing

There are sections in Bloody Brothers that are kinda slow though. Some parts feel unnecessary but it helps to create an immersive experience with the characters in this bonkers story. These moments make the show a bit dragged at certain points. Regardless of that, though, this series goes up and down this winding path that is absolutely entertaining as heck. Especially Daljeet’s innocent outlook on life. It’s both cute and hilarious and you want to hug him and shake him at the same time.

Of course, no crime goes unpunished. And as the series continues, things get more and more uncomfortable with the brothers. Will they get out of the sticky situation or not is the real question here but the twists and turns will give you whiplash every few minutes. None of these are good people, per se, so you don’t really feel much for them. It’s more about figuring out if and how they will get caught, especially because their story starts to unravel a little at every moment.

By the end of it, though, Bloody Brothers loses quite a bit of steam, thanks to how extended some scenes are. You find yourself biding your time, waiting for the series to come to a faster conclusion. The series could’ve been cut down to a much crisper length, but alas, that doesn’t happen. At the end of it all, it comes down to something pretty underwhelming. As more and more characters are introduced, it gets a tad too complicated for a series that starts this light-heartedly.

Summing up: Bloody Brothers

Bloody Brothers starts off well but the pacing issues, along with the unnecessary complications towards the end makes it out to be something other than what it promises. The funny parts almost fade out towards the end and leave you confused wondering what you’re watching.
