The Tinder Swindler: What is Conman Shimon Hayut aka Simon Leviev Doing Now?

The Tinder Swindler, a new documentary has, hit Netflix on Wednesday. Directed by Felicity Morris, the documentary tells us the chilling tale of how a man named Shimon Hayut posed as a wealthy man Simon Leviev on a dating app. Simon’s target would be rich women, borrowing money from them and ghosting and repeating it with someone else. The women he conned with had to suffer financially and emotionally.

A few women decided to come together swindle the swindler! In those 2 hours, we see these women share their stories, how they met Simon, how he posed as a charming man who was good with his manipulation skills. The documentary is an eye-opener for everyone who is into online dating. One has to be careful in every possible way. The one question everyone has about Shimon is what he is doing now.

The Tinder Swindler: What is Shimon Hayut aka Simon Leviev doing now? Where is he?

Since 2011, Shimon Hayut has been wanted by the Israeli police for crimes related to theft and forgery. In 2015, he was arrested and served prison time for a few months in a fraud case. Yet again, in 2017, Shimon was asked to return to Israel due to his fraud cases. But he instead fled the country. After fleeing Israel, Shimon started posing as Simon Leviev from 2018 on dating apps. He told women he was a billionaire and cheated them with money, causing financial and emotional damage.

In 2019, Simon was arrested and sent to prison for 15 months. He was ordered to pay $43,289 as compensation to his victims. However, Shimon Hayut only spent 5 months in jail and was released in 2020. The Times of Israel reported, “Hayut had met conditions for release under a program aimed at reducing the prison population amid fears of a coronavirus outbreak among inmates.”

The Netflix documentary The Tinder Swindler mentions, “Since his release, Simon has launched a website offering business advice for a fee. The mother of Simon’s child denies of any wrongdoing. Simon has no connection to the Israeli billionaire Lev Leviev or te Leviev family.”

“Simon currently lives in Israel as a free man. He no longer appears to have financial problems. Cecilie, Pernilla and Ayleen are still paying off their debits. Simon has never been charged with defrauding them. It is estimated he has swindled $10 million from victims across the globe. Since his release, Simon has been back on Tinder. His current girlfriend is an Israeli Model,” mentions the documentary.

The Netflix team asked Simon to take part in the documentary film. He sent them a voice message that says, “I will proceed with the lawsuit against you for defam-in-ation (defamation) and lies and, you know, that everything is based basically, on a lie.”

Shimon Hayut is also on Instagram as ‘Simon Leviev‘. But he made his account private.
