NBC’s This is Us Season 6 Episode 5 ‘Heart and Soul’ is now out. Directed by Chris Sullivan, Julia Brownell wrote today’s episode. The episode features Milo Ventimiglia as Jack Pearson, Mandy Moore as Rebecca Pearson, Sterling K Brown as Randall Pearson, Chrissy Metz as Kate Pearson, Hannah Zeile as teenage Kate Pearson, Justin Hartley as Kevin Pearson, Susan Kelechi Watson as Beth, Jon Huertas as Miguel, Caitlin Thompson as Madison, Lyric Ross as Deja, Asante Blackk as Malik, Griffin Dunne as Nicky Pearson, Jennifer Morrison as Cassidy, and Vanessa Bell Calloway as Edie.

This is Us Season 6 Episode 5 takes us back to the 1980s, where Rebecca teaches young Kate how to play ‘Heart and Soul’ on the piano. Jack records the beautiful moment in his camera. The narrative then shifts to a few years later, when Kate is a teenager and Jack is no more. Miguel and Rebecca are watching a TV show together. Teenage Kate tells them to get a life. Miguel suggests to Rebecca that they should try speed dating and informs her about an event happening for the same.
Miguel and Rebecca attend the speed dating event where 15 men and women get a few minutes to speak with each other. Rebecca meets a man called Matt, and they go out on a date together. Miguel is happy for her. When Rebecca returns home from her coffee date with Matt, Kate gets angry at her mom. She calls her mother an sl*t’ for trying to move on from their father. They two have a big fight.
At present, Kate invites Rebecca as a guest at her music school. Rebecca plays the same song again. Later, Kate gives heartbreaking news to Rebecca. Kate tells Rebecca that she doesn’t want her to babysit their children alone due to her latest reports. An angry Rebecca storms out of the musical school. Later, Kate visits Rebecca at her house. Rebecca apologises for overreacting. Kate wants Rebecca to teach piano to Jack. Rebecca agrees.
In This is Us Season 6 Episode 5, Kevin is a bit taken aback to see Elijah with Maddison when he drops off the twins. He calls Cassidy, and the duo decides to meet. They both go to Nick’s to have dinner. Nick is now dating the flight attendant Edie. They have a fun dinner night together. At night, Kevin and Cassidy head out to buy some ice cream. Kevin tries to hold Cassidy’s hand, but she stops him. Cassidy tells him that she only agreed to sex and nothing else. She also talks to him about the women in his life and how he needs to stop making a mess out of everything.

After returning home, Kevin contacts Elijah. He gives him advice regarding Madison that will keep her happy.
Other couples that are featured in today’s episodes are Randall-Beth and Deja-Malik. Malik prepares dinner for Randall and his family at their house to give big news. Randall and Beth think of the worst things the young couple will tell them. At dinner, Deja tells Randall and Beth that she wants to finish college early and head to Boston to study and stay with Malik and his daughter. Randall and Beth are shocked to hear the news. Randall even walks out of the dinner table after seeing how stubborn Deja is about her decision.
After some time, Randall and Malik have a conversation about Deja. Randall tells Malik that he should let Deja live his life. She has to study and make a future for herself. He advises Malik to end it with Deja so she can focus on her life like he’s focusing on his. Malik is unhappy with Randall’s advice and says that Deja won’t be happy if he ends everything.

Today’s episode was all about heart, soul and love. Some are looking for a new beginning, someone is craving a connection, and someone wants to be together. But love isn’t easy, and connections take time to build. It was a good episode, especially the scenes featuring Rebecca-Miguel and Randall-Beth.
