The Weeknd’s New Album Dawn FM Gets a Release Date and Star Cast

The Weeknd has never been subtle about his music and it has been quite some time since the artist has been dropping hints and teases for his upcoming album ‘Dawn FM’. The Canadian singer who reached fame through his popular song ‘Starboy’ is onto his fifth studio album that arrives post the release of ‘After Hours’ in 2020. Although the star has released several songs, remixes, collaborations videos along with headlining the 2021 Super Bowl Halftime show, this will be his first full-length album released after more than a year.

The Weeknd dropped a concept video like a teaser for the upcoming album which revealed the date of the release along with the star cast that will be in the album. The tone and cinematography of the video are very similar to the singer’s niche of mixing R&B, Dark Wave and Dream Pop.

The video starts with The Weeknd well dressed yet taken aback by some kind of trauma and, of course, a beautiful woman who is more than what she appears to be. The video finds an aged version of the singer by the end and maybe hints at the gradually psychologically growing up of the singer. There are several snippets in the video and the introduction that states: ”A new sonic universe from the mind of the Weeknd.”

The release date for the album ‘Dawn FM’ is also mentioned in the caption- January 7, 2022. It is not clear if the singer is going to release the entire album together or drop the title track and a strong single from the album first.
