You Are My Spring episode 13 recap

Ah, heartbreak, my old friend. You Are My Spring episode 13 starts with the breakup from the last episode. Only this time, we see that Da-jeong wasn’t the only person on the rooftop. All of her and Young-do’s friends, too, were there hiding with a cake and presents. If you remember, it’s Young-do’s birthday. Clearly, an awkward moment for everyone, and they all look very sad.

As they all fight amongst each other after coming down, Young-do asks Seung-won and Ha-neul to meet him for dinner the next day. Meanwhile, Da-jeong and her mother discuss why it is necessary to love someone. She tells Da-jeong that life needs a purpose other than just existing and Da-jeong is proof that something good came out of her own relationship.

The next day in You Are My Spring episode 13, all the tenants are called over by the building manager. Meanwhile, Young-do goes out for coffee with Mi-ran. She apologises for making having a disease sound like a flaw. They talk about different things, however, Mi-ran doesn’t really mention anything about his relationship with Da-jeong.

We then see that the shaman guy she saw back when actually told her that Young-do doesn’t have long to live and to not get too attached. Of course, she asks him to do something about his predicament. In the present, she gives Young-do a talisman (don’t come at me if this isn’t what it’s called) and tells him that she bought nine lives for him. Thus, even if he has used 2/3 lives, he still has plenty more. So, it’s ok.

Anyway, as all the tenants meet up for the meeting in You Are My Spring episode 13, Da-jeong and Young-do are clearly uncomfortable around each other. She makes an excuse to leave, but at home too, she is reminded of him thanks to things around her.

In the meantime, Detective Ko and his team go off to the mysterious man, Hwang Jae-sik’s home and find it trashed. In the bathroom, however, he finds a hatch. Opening it, he finds several papers and a pouch containing some white powder. The papers talk about the three murders that Choi Jeong-min was suspected of. It also talks about Lee Jeong-beom’s murder. Ko is left seething and speechless. He asks Park Ho and Choi Sung-Joon to look into the contents of the papers and test whether the white powder is the same as the drug found in Chase’s drink.

At the wedding taking place at the Grand Hyatt, Young-do reminisces about his time with Da-jeong. It’s a sweet moment that totally broke my heart into tiny pieces but hey, whatever. In the next scene in You Are My Spring episode 13, Da-jeong and Young-do come face to face outside the Hyatt and she drops a cushion that she was carrying. When he tries to help her, she asks him not to since this is what breaking up entails – they can’t help each other anymore.

When Ga-yeong gets to know about Da-jeong and Young-do’s breakup, she goes on a rampage. As in, she incinerates him for breaking up and gives him a piece of her mind about his decision. We love this and I’m glad Ge-yeong is finally becoming a character with at least some depth. Meanwhile, Chase watches the recording where the Hwang Jae-sik taunts Choi Jeong-min to kill himself or he’d kill Da-jeong.

This seriously disturbs Chase, and we see the truth in a flashback in You Are My Spring episode 13. The truth is heartbreaking for both him and us and when it sinks in, he goes out for a walk. When he comes back, the vice-chairwoman, Ma Jeong-a, calls him. She asks him to cross the line this once (in regards to the surgery) and then everything will fall into place.

Young-do, Ha-neul and Seung-won are hanging out in You Are My Spring episode 13 and, in Seung-won’s absence, Young-do says something to Ha-neul that is, obviously recorded in Seung-won’s camera. Seung-won later sends it to Eun-ha, who asks him to delete it and not send it to Da-jeong.

After an emotionally charged discussion, Da-jeong tells Eun-ha to drop her off at one of her haunts with Young-do. The video that Eun-ha was so totally against, well, she decides to send it to Da-jeong and Young-do is furious in You Are My Spring episode 13. He runs off to find her. Meanwhile, we get to see what Young-do had said to Ha-neul – that he misses her like crazy and just wants to be with her forever. Regardless of whether he has to go through surgery all over again, he’d take it all just to be with her. Da-jeong is obviously moved by the confession and cries.

She calls him and tells him that she is ok to go through hardships to be with him. And if what he said in the video is true, if he truly means it, then she’d like to be with him and help him through the various difficulties. She asks him to meet her and when they do, it’s fireworks all over again. Everything is good in the world! The episode ends with the two kissing each other.

You Are My Spring episode 13 is more drama than thrill. However, a key piece of information coming out spells slight troubles for Chase. At least we get to see Young-do and Da-jeong happy.

You Are My Spring is streaming on Netflix.
