Oh boy, I really went off on the last episode, didn’t I? I’ll say it once again, I don’t think it is a bad anime. Hopefully, How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom Episode 5 will prove me right.

How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom is being adapted to anime by the studio J.C.Staff, which is also known for bringing popular anime like Food Wars and One Punch Man Season 2 to our screens. The anime is being directed by Takashi Watanabe, who has previously been involved with the productions of Death Note and Slayers. The series is adapted from a famous light novel written by Dozuemaru.

How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom Episode 5- The Review
Oh no. What the hell did I just watch? I literally hoped for it to be good five lines ago, and I get treated with this. How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom Episode 5 was the worst episode of anything I’ve seen this season, and I’ve seen Battle Game in 5 Seconds‘ first episode. How can anything kill any and all promise it had in 5 episodes? That almost seems like a world record to me.

How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom Episode 5 was just plain dull. Nothing happened in this episode, except that Hakuya became the acting Prime Minister of the nation after being missing for an episode. That’s it. All the other stuff? That was just an excuse to turn this show into a dumb Harem Isekai.
I am not going on a rant about this show’s actual problems like I did last time. Instead, I’ll say this. The semi-interesting concept that initially drew viewers in has already been lost alongside other charming qualities we discussed in earlier reviews. There were always signs it was going in this direction, but it got here much faster than I anticipated.
Let’s talk about the good things while we’re at it. The music in this episode was great, and that took me by surprise. There was a fight scene, of all things, and it looked good enough. Voice acting was okay, and so was the animation. If anything, these are going to stop it from being among my lowest-rated shows.
What I hate about it the most is how shameless it is about it. It just set up an excuse for itself to give the protagonist up to eight- EIGHT wives. Usually, when people watch shows like this, they root for a particular character and root for them to be “The One” in the finale. Now, Realist Hero Episode 5 has taken that from us, too. No longer can I hope for Liscia, voiced by Inori Minase, to be the winner at the end of it all. I have to take all of them or none of them, and that just isn’t going to work for me.

Verdict
How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom Episode 5 was borderline unwatchable at points, and I can barely even recognise this show. It was boring and not in line with the rest of the show’s formula. Why am I still watching this?
