MasterChef Australia Season 13 Episode 38 was another outdoor challenge called the ‘Melbourne CBD Box Challenge’. Judges Andy Allen, Melissa Leong and Jock Zonfrillo, sent the contestants to explore Melbourne. The contestants have to click a picture of anything that catches their eye from the city. Later, they have to cook a dish inspired by that picture. Everyone is excited and click some amazing pictures that will help them to cook something delicious.
When the contestants return, the MasterChef Australia Season 13 judges tell them that they have 75 minutes to cook their dish. The makers of the top four dishes will get a chance to fight for immunity in the next episode. From cafes to stairs to different corners of Melbourne city, each contestant clicks a striking photo. They are pretty excited about the challenge as everyone saw a story and different elements that will help them create a beautiful dish.
Brent decides to cook fried chicken and hopes it helps him to get in the immunity challenge. But Andy and Jock tell him that it has to be the best fried chicken they ever had, as they’ve eaten a lot of it. He’s a bit worried but trusts his idea and hopes for the best result.
Linda makes Noum Kong (Cambodian doughnuts) and wants to serve it with a coffee ice cream. However, her ice cream fails to churn on time. So she decides to serve Vietnamese coffee with her doughnuts. As usual, Depinder is calm throughout the cook. Her pic of a contemporary cafe inspires her to make Choux pastry. Pino makes elegant looking Chocolate and Raspberry Choux.

For MasterChef Australia Season 13 Episode 38’s Melbourne-inspired challenge, Kishwar clicks a picture of a rainbow on the window of the National Gallery of Victoria. It reminds her of fish, so she cooks Kingfish Ceviche with Pickled Rainbow Vegetables, Angry Jam and Herb Oil. Tommy clicks the picture of a lane in the middle of Melbourne City that inspired him to cook Vietnamese street food. So he serves the judges a generous plate of food – Bánh bèo.
The other contestants also cook interesting dishes by taking inspiration from Melbourne. But the dishes that MasterChef Australia Season 13 judges loved the most are Depinder, Kishwar, Linda, Tommy and Brent. I thought Brent would make it to the top 4, but the judges’ decision took me as a surprise. It seems like they loved the fish and doughnuts more than fried chicken. So the four contestants who have made it to the immunity challenge are – Depinder, Tommy, Linda and Kishwar.
MasterChef Australia Season 13 Episode 38: What’s next?
In the next episode, Depinder, Tommy, Linda and Kishwar have to make pastries at Kate Reid’s Lune Croissanterie. Whoever serves the best pastry will win the immunity from the Elimination Challenge.
