At the beginning of 2021, Karan Johar shared that Sanjay Kapoor and Maheep Kapoor’s daughter Shanaya Kapoor will soon make her debut in Bollywood. Reports stated that Kapoor would step into the acting world with Student of The Year 3. Neither KJo nor the budding actor responded to the rumours back then.
Now, the latest big update mentions that Karan Johar will launch Shanaya Kapoor in a rom-com, which will be a love triangle. Along with KJo, director Shashank Khaitan will produce a romantic comedy. The actors who will star along Kapoor are Laksh Lalwani and Gurfateh Pirzada.
A source told Pinkvilla, “It’s a love triangle in the rom-com space and two other actors in the film will be Laksh Lalwani and Gurfateh Pirzada. The trio has been attending several acting workshops over the last 6 months as the first idea was to take the film on floors by the month of July. However, the second wave of pandemic has delayed all the plans and the makers are now awaiting restrictions to be lifted before chalking out a new schedule.”
The source further added that the major part of the rom-com is set outside India. So Karan Johar and Shashank Khaitan are hoping to start the filming in the last quarter of 2021. They are waiting for the COVID-19 pandemic to come under control before they plan out the release date of 2022. The script of the film is locked, and the actors are already attending the acting workshop for the same.
The source further added, ” If not for the second wave, an official announcement, with the title and director would have been made by now.”

It looks like Shanaya Kapoor’s dream of getting launched by Karan Johar is coming true. While she wanted to work in his directorial film, his Dharma Productions’ films are also interesting. In 2019, Kapoor had told IANS, “I mean, yeah! I don’t think any actor would say no. He is family. He is talented and the most amazing director. I think I would start crying if Karan ever directs me. I would get emotional and just die.”
Talking about Gurfateh Pirzada, the actor made his debut last year in Netflix film Guilty alongside Kiara Advani. Directed by Ruchi Narain, KJo’s Dharma Production had backed the film. On the other hand, Laksh Lalwani will star in Collin D’Cunha’s Dostana 2 alongside Janhvi Kapoor. Kartik Aaryan was also a part of the film. But reports stated that Dharma had ousted him from the film due to professional reasons.
