The Falcon And The Winter Soldier Finale Review: Hello, Captain America!

The Falcon and The Winter Soldier finale released on Disney+ today. Directed by Kari Skogland, Malcolm Spellman and Josef Sawyerthe wrote the last episode titled ‘”One World, One People’. The series stars Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Wyatt Russell, Erin Kellyman, Daniel Brühl, Emily VanCamp and Julia Louis-Dreyfus. Read our review to know how MCU ended their second web show of Phase 4.

In the previous episode, we saw Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) finally training with the shield and gaining the confidence to become the new Captain America. He opens a box that Bucky (Sebastian Stan) brings from Wakanda. Well, all your guesses have been right. It is a new Cap suit and advanced Falcon wings. We also see that the Flag Smashers are all set to attack the GRC members in New York.

The Falcon and The Winter Soldier finale starts with the Flag Smashers holding them GRC members hostage. Finally, Sam makes a spectacular entry as Captain America in his comic-accurate suit. I had to pause my screen to look at the suit and how powerful Anthony looks as a Cap. Seeing him hold the shield in a star-striped suit has been worth it. Bucky and Sharon (Emily VanCamp) are also present in the rescue mission.

We have some good fighting scenes between Captain America and Flag Smashers. These fight scenes tell us how advanced the new suit is and how it works. While watching The Falcon and The Winter Soldier finale today, the thought that came to my mind is ‘this episode is all about Sam Wilson’. He is nothing like Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) yet equally good as him and the right person to take Captain America’s legacy forward.

In the finale, Bucky redeems himself in every possible way. Sam and Karli come face to face again, and that was one of the most powerful moments in the episode today. They save lives; some lose their lives. John Walker (Wyatt Russell) also comes to the spot with his handmade shield and Cap uniform. The writers will leave you confused whether to like or dislike him after today’s episode.

A still from The Falcon and The Winter Soldier

In WandaVision, when the makers revealed that ‘It was Agatha all along’, fans responded, ‘we knew it’. The same has happened with Power Broker in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier finale. After episode 3, many Marvel fans guessed that Sharon Carter is the Power Broker, and they were right. So her revelation didn’t pack a solid punch there. Well, that’s about some key elements from today’s episode. I won’t share everything in detail as I don’t want to give away significant spoilers.

The Falcon and The Winter Soldier Finale: Is it worth it?

Overall, The Falcon and The Winter Soldier solves many things and introduces us to possible new narratives. That’s what MCU is known the best for. You crave more when you finish the episode. However, I wish director Kari Skogland would’ve shown us more about Bucky’s talk with Yori Nakajima (Ken Takemoto). It mattered a lot to him, and just a few seconds of their interaction doesn’t leave the powerful impacted one had expected. Nevertheless, the episode brings a good conclusion to the story, especially to Sam and Bucky’s character.

There’s a mid-credit scene. So do NOT miss that out.

SPOILER ALERT:

MCU has not confirmed if there will be a second season or not. However, after the episode ends, the first text we see is – Captain America and The Winter Soldier. So that’s a good tease about season 2. Another fact that screams of a new season are Sharon Carter being the Power Broker. Sam and Bucky are not aware of her real identity, and she’s still evil. Her phone interaction with someone during the mid-credit scene proves that she is still not done. One can hope they explore her part in season 2.
