The Falcon And The Winter Soldier Episode 5 Review: Time For Truth

Today, the fifth episode of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier released on Disney+. The show stars Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Wyatt Russell, Erin Kellyman, Daniel Brühl, Danny Ramirez, Adepero Oduye, Carl Lumbly and Clé Bennett. Directed by Kari Skogland, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier episode 5 is titled Truth, and Dalan Musson wrote it.

With two different promos, Marvel had already hinted at us with a confrontation between Sam (Anthony Mackie), Bucky (Sebastian Stan) and the new Captain America John Walker (Wyatt Russell). After killing one of the flagsmashers, the new Captain America runs inside the warehouse. He’s angry and mourning his friend Lemar’s death (Clé Bennett) and gets the flashback of their time together. Sam and Bucky follow him, and the former asks him to return the shield.

John Walker is in no mood to give the shield back and has no regret for whatever he has done. There’s a powerful fight between the three of them that goes on almost for 5 minutes. The fight is shot magnificently, capturing the tension and anger in the room. It will definitely remind you of the fight between Iron Man, Captain America and the Winter Soldier in Captain America: Civil War.

The Falcon And The Winter Soldier Episode 5 Review: Time For Truth
The Falcon And The Winter Soldier still

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier episode 5 is a smashing hit. It had everything – fights, action, revelation, heartbreaks, and light moments. Zemo’s (Daniel Brühl) story also gets a conclusion. However, his opinion of Karli (Erin Kellyman) totally comes off true, and she is unstoppable and has more deadly plans, especially against Sam.

In The Falcon and The Winter Soldier’s second episode, the writers introduced us to Isaiah Bradley (Carl Lumbly). We finally get to know his story, and it’s heartbreaking. His story plays a major role in shaping Sam’s decision regarding the shield. John Walker is furious and coming forth; his fight is not only for his friend Lemar. Now it’s also for himself, his pride and against everything and everyone who made him act the way they want to, only to disregard him in the end.

Apart from that, Sam and Bucky share some pure joyful moments with the former’s family. It’s good to see them smiling because the boys deserve a break from everything they’ve been through. But The Falcon and the Winter Soldier episode 5 still didn’t answer who the Power Broker is. Most fan theories state that it’s Sharon Carter (Emily VanCamp). Today, seeing her appear for a few seconds and listening to her conversation, I won’t be surprised anymore if she really is the PB!

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier episode 5, Truth also has mid-credit scenes featuring John Walker, aka Wyatt Russell. The scene shows the madness that has engulfed Walker and Sam, and Bucky has a lot more to worry about than just Karli and the Power Broker.

SPOILER ALERT – The Falcon And The Winter Soldier

Bucky asks the Dora Milaje from Wakanda for one last favour and gives Sam a big suitcase when he visits him and Sarah. At the end of the episode, we see Anthony Mackie finally training hard with the shield and ready to be the new Captain America. The episode ends with him opening the case, but the makers didn’t show us what’s inside it. We think it is the new suit for our new Cap, and we can’t wait to see Anthony Mackie in action, wearing the suit in the finale.
