Santa Evita is an Argentine web series based on the 1995 novel of the same name by Tomás Eloy Martínez, who also serves as the creator of the show. The script is written by Marcela Guerty and Pamela Rementeria with directors Rodrigo Garcia Barcha (son of Gabriel García Márquez) and Alejandro Maci helming it. Salma Hayek serves as one of the producers for the show.

Natalia Oreiro headlines the series in the role of the iconic Eva Perón. Alongside her, we will see Ernesto Alterio, Dario Grandinetti, Domingo Peron, Diego Velazquez, Francesc Orella, Diego Cremonesi as Eduardo Arancibia, Ivan Moschner, Gabriela Ferrero, Hector Diaz amongst others. The series consists of seven episodes, each with a runtime ranging from 40-45 minutes, approximately.

What is so revolutionary about Santa Evita is that it brings a controversial but, important female figure of history to our screens. The less known about Evita was the First Lady of Argentina and also the one figure that influenced the country and the politics surrounding it in both life and death. It is created and principally written by Peter Morgan and produced by Left Bank Pictures and Sony Pictures Television.

The Hot Zone (2019)

An anthology series based on the 1994 non-fiction book of the same name by Richard Preston, The Hot Zone was initially intended as a miniseries but following its success has two seasons in total. It is set during the 1980s-1990s timeline, where we follow the U.S. Army scientist Nancy Jaax confronting the deadly Ebola outbreak. The series recounts how Jaax was the first to identify the ebolavirus and how it could impact the world in the near future.

Julianna Margulies plays the role of Col. Nancy Jaax along with Noah Emmerich, Liam Cunningham, Topher Grace, James D’Arcy and others. You can watch it now on Hulu.

Reign (2013)

Bringing a romantic twist to the world of historical dramas, Reign takes place during the late-sixteenth century and revolves around the life of Mary, Queen of Scots, and how she rose to power in the French court. Created by Laurie McCarthy and Stephanie SenGupta, the show has been criticized for its historical inaccuracy at times but has still managed to reign over four seasons.
