5 Hollywood Live Action Characters that Deserve an Animated Series of Their Own: Ethan Hunt, Jack Sparrow and Others

Since time immemorial, audiences have looked upto Hollywood live action characters and the way they pull off their iconic stunts. Throughout history, there have been many actors who have immortalised certain characters like Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker, Jim Carrey as the Mask, Eddie Murphy as Dr. Dolittle,  Daniel Radcliffe as Harry Potter, Arnold Schwarzenegger as the Terminator, Robert Downey as Tony Stark and many others.

In this article, we will be talking about 5 such characters that deserve to have an animated series of their own. Each of these characters has a lot of potential that can only be explored through animation, now that we have accepted animation as a formal medium. “Animation is cinema”, says the great Guillermo del Toro. With his words in mind, let’s begin.

5 Hollywood Live Action Characters

Ethan Hunt

Tom Cruise’s character Ethan Hunt from the Mission Impossible has been going strong for more than two decades now. And let’s just admit that nothing is impossible for Ethan. A master infiltrator, it will be great to see him access the deepest corners of his brain and come out with new plans to prevent world-level threats by jumping off aeroplanes or going to space (FYI, Tom Cruise is going to space for an upcoming movie). Imagine Kim Possible but more mature and dangerous.

Dominic Toretto

Vin Diesel’s portrayal of Dominic Toretto will never get old. The pro racer with a deep love for American Muscle is perhaps the first and only “vehicle-driven” character that the audience liked and appreciated. Moreover, the fact that he likes to ride cars makes him perfect for headlining an animated series. Remember Hot Wheels: AcceleRacers? That was so cool.

James Bond

James Bond has transcended his nature as a character in novels and movies, and become a part of British culture itself. Multiple actors have taken on the role of Agent 007 whose career spans more than 6 decades in movies and 7 if we consider its creation by Ian Fleming in 1953. With time, the movies have only upped the stakes that Bond has had to go against. So it will be good to get a new animated series with him to showcase his skills. It can be like Netflix’s Arcane or Love Death + Robots, both of which offer a graphic rawness that Bond deserves.

Jack Sparrow

We can never have enough of Johnny Depp’s portrayal of pirate Jack Sparrow. And considering the eccentric guy that he is and how his expressions add to his persona, it is animation that deserves him and not the other way around which is our topic here. In my humble opinion, someone like Guillermo del Toro should make an animated show on the beloved character. And what we would not give to have Johnny back to voice him. Take my money.

Max Rockatansky

For those of you who haven’t heard this name, Max Rockatansky is the title character of Mad Max, the popular post-apocalyptic movie series directed by George Miller. Tom’s portrayal as the slightly unhinged Max along with the very post-apocalyptic atmosphere that Miller brought to the big screen in Mad Max: Fury Road certainly deserves a dedicated animated version. Among all the members of this list, this is the one character I want the most to be adapted into an animated version. And only Geroge Miller should do it.
