The same is surely going to be the case of the upcoming Greta Gerwig directorial. There is still time for the movie to arrive so we bring you 4 instances of her stellar acting chops that will help you convince yourself to go and book a ticket in advance to Barbieland.
4 Margot Robbie Performances
Wolf of Wall Street (2013)
In this Martin-Scorsese-directed film, Margot Robbie stars as Naomi Lapaglia opposite Leonardo DiCaprio’s Jordan Belfort. While her screen time isn’t as much as one would expect, she leaves an ever-lasting impression. While she appears to be a sex symbol in the film, she symbolizes Jordan’s everlasting want or desire to have more of everything. In other words, you can also address her as Jordan’s symbol of dissatisfaction because he cannot have everything. No one can have everything.
Jordan’s argument with Margot in the film is another way to show him arguing with himself. she does a great job pulling off the character without overdoing it. A must-watch among all Margot Robbie Movies. Not to be explicit but this film does prove why she was chosen to portray the iconic doll.
Babylon (2022)
Surrounding 1920s Hollywood and its shift from silent movies to sound, Margot Robbie is the tragic Nellie LaRoy, a character that is inspired by Clara Bow, a Hollywood actress of the silent era. Only she could have pulled off the flamboyant nature of her character that was sweetly garnished with the perfect tinge of insanity that comes with fame and money. The fragility of the life she leads, an American dream so to say, is not for hers to have forever. Some might even say that she stands for the American dream; a lofty thing that comes and goes, not with a bang but with a whimper.

The Suicide Squad (2021)
Speaking of insanity, you have to watch this DC flick directed by James Gunn to realize what Margot is capable of. It’s not easy to pull off a character that’s basically mad and unpredictable. But she nailed the part as Joker’s girlfriend Harley Quinn. The innocence that she puts in the character almost makes you forget about her pure criminal mind that can make her slit your throat without even thinking or blinking twice. At the same time, there is inner turmoil that is clearly visible at times just by looking at her eyes. Now that’s really good acting. Not very doll-like I know but all the more reason to watch the film, considering how convincing she becomes.
I Tonya (2019)
Based on the career of famous American ice-skater Tonya Harding and her assault on her rival Nancy Kerrigan, Margot plays the lead in the film and she got an Academy Award nomination as the Best Actress for it. The film explores Tonya as a human being rather than a fierce competitor and a champion. And Robbie expertly manages to portray that tangible humanity that made Tonya commit the assault. More than what she did, it is why she did it that makes her all the more human and the Barbie actress executed this facet of the character to perfection. Truly, an Oscar-worthy performance.
