2023 Music Bank in Mexico Performances: NewJeans, Park Bo-gum, (G)I-DLE and Others Put Up a Blazing Showcase

For the second-ever same event on the Mexican soil, 2023 Music Bank in Mexico performances by leading Hallyu stars with their blazing energies took the crowd by storm on October 22, 2023 (KST). The K-pop concert was last held in Mexico in 2014, and is also this year’s second follow-up to the ceremony of Music Bank in Paris held in April 2023. Just like the former edition of the blockbuster South Korean music program, the October rendition brought in several performers already at the top of their game in terms of serving musical bops and swooning Hallyu enthusiasts in general.

Numerous artists were seen at Palacio de los Deportes in Mexico City, where they performed not only their original tracks and hits, but also took the chance to cover songs of other great names from the same industry and deliver some local tunes as well. The ecstatic turn-out at the concert started tweeting their joy away, leading these artists to trend high on X (formerly Twitter). The April 2023 concert in Paris opened the gates to Stray Kids, ENHYPEN, CRAVITY, MAMAMOO, AB6IX, THE BOYZ, IVE, P1Harmony and NMIXX. While this time one of them returned for another show, the rest were replaced by other groups like NewJeans, (G)I-DLE and more, with Park Bo-gum as the official MC.

AB6IX, formed by the label Brand New Music, is the only group that appeared in both the Paris and Mexico concert series. Other than them, girl groups like NewJeans, (G)I-DLE, STAYC and ITZY took their turns to wow the Mexican crowd. Alongside them, boy group THE NEW SIX also stepped up with their appeasing setlist with actor Park Bo-gum, who’d initially entered the Hallyu industry with his dreams of taking off as a singer/song-writer.

Bo-gum has also previously been affiliated with the Music Bank brand as he joined as a co-host with Red Velvet‘s Irene in May 2015, and eventually left the show in June 2016, but not before bagging the Best Newcomer Award at the KBS Entertainment Awards in 2015 for the same gig.
