List of Movies About Fresh Start
Little Forest
We all have once thought of leaving out city lives behind and starting a new peaceful life in the countryside. While not everyone can do that and we vicariously live our fantasies through cottage core Youtube videos, in this film, a young woman returns to her rural childhood home, and with it, a life of farming and homemade meals. But with the passing of seasons, she finds that not all the answers can be found in the countryside.
Based on a manga series of the same name by Daisuke Igarashi, this South Korean movie features Kim Tae-ri, Ryu Jun-yeol, Moon So-ri, Jin Ki-joo and many others. You can watch this film on Viki.

When talking about French cinema, this film always comes on the top and rightly so, it ticks all the boxes of a heartwarming movie that will leave you feeling happy and inspired to live a fulfilling life. This discovery eventually leads her to dedicate herself to helping those around her to find happiness. The Passenger
It is a drama film from 1975, directed and co-written by Michelangelo Antonioni and produced by Carlo Ponti. It stars Jack Nicholson as a television reporter in Africa who assumes the identity of a dead stranger. When David Locke impulsively exchanges identities with a businessman he finds dead in a North African hotel room, he believes he’s starting anew. But passing himself off as someone else doesn’t mean he’s escaping the past.
This engrossing thriller makes us think and is certainly a lesson of what not to do when trying to change our lives. You can watch this film on Mubi.
The Pursuit of Happyness
This is one of the exemplary movies that you will find on many lists about striving for your dreams and finding happiness in the smallest of things. It is inspired by the true story of Chris Gardner, a San Francisco salesman struggling to build a future for himself and his 5-year-old son Christopher (Jaden Smith).
When his girlfriend Linda walks out, Chris is left to raise Christopher on his own. Chris’ determination finally pays off when he lands an unpaid internship in a brutally competitive stockbroker-training program, where only one in twenty interns will make the cut. But without a salary, Chris and his son are evicted from their apartment and are forced to sleep on the streets, in homeless shelters and even behind the locked doors of a metro station bathroom. With self-confidence and the love and trust of his son, Chris Gardner rises above his obstacles to become a Wall Street legend.

Minari
Minari follows a Korean-American family that moves to an Arkansas farm in search of their own American Dream. The family home changes completely with the arrival of their sly, foul-mouthed, but incredibly loving grandmother. Amidst the instability and challenges of this new life in the rugged Ozarks, the film shows the undeniable resilience of family and what really makes a home.
The film shows no matter where we go, our roots keep us grounded and will always be there in our hard times. You can watch this film on Amazon Prime Video.
Good Will Hunting
This film is an example of how we often restrict ourselves within the boundaries of what we can do and become, whereas the possibilities are endless and once we get out of our heads, we can be anything. Starring Robin Williams, Matt Damon, and Ben Affleck, Good Will Hunting shows the most brilliant mind at America’s top university isn’t a student, he’s the kid who cleans the floors.
Will Hunting is a headstrong, working-class genius who is failing the lessons of life. After one too many run-ins with the law, Will’s last chance is a psychology professor, who might be the only man who can reach him. Finally forced to deal with his past, Will discovers that the only one holding him back is himself. Watch this film on Netflix.
The Big City (Mahanagar)
This Satyajit Ray’s movie is one of the first that portrayed the rising of modern working women and with such nuance that it is still relatable to many, who have to go through the subtle tussle between tradition and modernity. Set in mid-1950s Calcutta, it follows the personal triumphs and frustrations of Arati (Madhabi Mukherjee), who decides, despite the initial protests of her bank-clerk husband, to take a job to help support their family.
Arati steps up for her family despite much opposition from her acquaintances yet keeps on going for what she believes in and for the better of her family. Watch this film about stepping up in life on Mubi.

The Law of Moises
This film is a perfect example of how starting new doesn’t always mean moving to a new place. Sometimes your life can be changed for the better right where you are. In this film, a talented young filmmaker desperate to escape his small town discovers his destiny is to save it.
