This year has been great for Kpop, and we are here to list down the Best Kpop Moments of 2022 for a quick recap. Starting from current big names like BLACKPINK and BTS releasing new music to iconic veteran groups like Girls’ Generation and KARA reuniting after years, it has been an emotional rollercoaster.

Best Kpop Moments of 2022
Dreamers- Jungkook of BTS featuring Fahad Al Kubaisi
Jungkook makes history by becoming the first Korean artist to sing the main theme song for FIFA World Cup 2022. It broke multiple records and became the first FIFA song to debut at #1 on the Billboard charts. The singers also performed the song in during the opening ceremony.
VMA for Best K-pop- Lisa
Earlier this year, Lisa Manoban from the girl group BLACKPINK created history by becoming the first female solo artist to win the Best K-pop Award at MTV Video Music Awards 2022. She beat BTS, Itzy, Seventeen, Stray Kids and Twice to win the award for her debut song LALISA. She was nominated for two categories with her group and won both that night.
Military discharge- Chanyeol of EXO
On September 27, 2022, EXO’s Chanyeol was discharged from his mandatory military enlistment. The artist was engaged in various activities, even during his enlistment, representing the Korean military. He performed in over 100 shows for the military musical ‘A Song of Meissa‘ in various cities in South Korea.
Born Pink- BLACKPINK
After over two years of waiting, BLACKPINK finally returned with their second full-length studio album. The album was released on September 16, 2022, and broke multiple records. It became the first album by a female K-pop girl group to reach number one on the Billboard 200 and the first one by a K-pop girl group to reach atop the UK Albums Chart.
Forever 1- Girls’ Generation
Forever 1 was released to commemorate the girl group’s fifteenth anniversary. Girls’ Generation, also known as SNSD, reunited after 5 long years of hiatus. The album contains 10 tracks, including the lead single of the same name.

Astronaut- Jin of BTS with Coldplay
Jin from BTS created another memorable moment by performing his solo debut song Astronaut with Coldplay at the band’s concert in Argentina. The artists performed the song in Buenos Aires’ River Plate Stadium on October 28, 2022. Jin currently serves in the South Korean military due to the country’s mandatory enlistment.
Still Life- BIGBANG
The legendary group BIGBANG came together to release a track after four years of hiatus. The song was released on April 5, 2022, instantly becoming a chart-topper in South Korea and internationally. It gained over 900k unique listeners on Melon within the first 24 hours of its release.
dearMoon Project- T.O.P of BIGBANG
T.O.P of BIGBANG will join the SpaceX expedition with Japanese billionaire Yusaku Maezawa in 2023. He will be one of the 8 participants for the dearMoon project. The artist will be the first Korean to participate in a space project.
Move Again- KARA
KARA reunited in 2022 to mark their fifteenth anniversary following their disbandment in 2016. Nicole and Jiyoung also participated in the album. The Japanese version of the album was also released shortly after.
MAMA 2022
Many memorable moments were created in the award show, but the fourth generation groups, IVE, Kep1er, NMIXX, LE SSERAFIM, and NewJeans sharing the same stage, was the most exciting event of the night. They performed various songs from their respective discographies.
