Zero Day Review
The plot of the show follows an ex-president who is called to help solve the case of a cyberattack which shook the country. With political conspiracies and his health becoming problems in the case, how will he deal with the two after having left the circle due to his breaking family? Adding on to this, another attack looms over their head and he has to do everything he can to solve the situation.
The political chaos and brutality of this show certainly hit the mark on many points- be it looking into the power one wishes to hold while whitewashing their ambitions, the many faces that are hidden beneath the surface, and even the intricate games that play out in the end. Everything has been well put together in this show, bringing to the viewers a good entertainer.
Coming to the psychological aspect, while the idea of a neurological weapon does seem quite intriguing, and seeing the man lose his mind in a sudden way catches our eye, it doesn’t stay so for long. Mixing in the thrilling suspense, the psychological side of the story is almost lost in everything that is going on, making people forget about it quite easily.

However, for a political plot that is so well-played and real, it is quite a bummer when the idealistic ending proves otherwise. In that moment, we are brought back to the reality that this is only a piece of fiction, that pulls us so harshly we cannot decide whether we love it or hate it.
Meanwhile, the performance of the cast really stands out in everything that happens in the show. Robert De Niro truly stands out with his character, showing us all sides to Mullen which could’ve otherwise been left out very easily. His little actions and the vulnerability that reflects in his expressions, show us that he isn’t just a man component enough to take on this huge responsibility, but is also someone who is suffering.
However, there is no doubt that we see a lot of the plot unfolding around these characters and less on the cyberattack that killed many. We see a world suffering from this attack, but only in glimpses that we catch through protests, news reports, some actors dying, and so on. There isn’t anything truly describing the horrors of these scenes, which is quite a letdown when the show is titled after such a day.

Altogether, the show has both its perks and flaws, and it is an interesting watch for those who are into political thrillers.
Summing Up
Zero Day starring Robert De Niro is a hard-to-miss political thriller that not only brings us some interesting characters but also the chaos that is easily missed by the many. As the investigations unfold behind the scenes, we see not only a part of reality but also the home-grown turmoil that is not much talked about.
Watch Zero Day on Netflix.
