September 2023 ends, and the last week has a LOT of releases. From documentaries to crime series, streaming platforms were flooded with diverse content for viewers to enjoy. However, some worked, and some were a disappointment.

If you are confused about what to watch and what deserves your time and attention, we have created a list of some good releases of this week. These movies or shows are worth your time and should be on your weekend watchlist. 

Savior Complex 

The HBO documentary on Renee Bach and her NGO Serving His Children. Renee grabbed headlines for her help to the Ugandan children. But there’s a lot more we don’t know about Renee and the truth about everything. The documentary sheds light on so many elements that help us under who Renee really is and the way she has been doing her work, whether good or bad.

Charlie Chopra and the Mystery of Solang Valley

The SonyLIV series is based on Agatha Christie’s The Sittaford Mystery novel. Directed by Vishal Bhardwaj, the whodunnit stars Wamiqa Gabbi, Priyanshu Painyuli, Naseeruddin Shah, Neena Gupta, Ratna Pathak Shah and others. The story is set in a snowclad Solang Valley where a murder makes everyone suspicious. The series has several high and low points. But it keeps you hooked to find the real culprit.

Forgotten Love 

The Netflix film stars Leszek Lichota, Maria Kowalska, Ignacy Liss, Anna Szymanczyk, Miroslaw Haniszewski, Lukasz Szczepanowski, and Izabela Kuna. The story is about a professor who loses his family and his memory. It’s a heartwarming tale of how he learns to live again while building bonds he never thought he could. The film is high on emotions and moves you with the way it showcases human connection.

Who’s your Gynac?

The Amazon miniTV web series stars Saba Azad, Vibha Chibber, Karishma Singh, Aaron Koul and Kunal Thakur. It’s a series about a new OB-GYN doctor and her experience of working with pregnant women, gynaecology and how it helps her become better as a doctor and a person. The show focuses on subjects of human connections, ethics, sex positivity, and so much more without ever going overboard.

Kumari Srimathi

Prime Video released a Telugu series that stars Nithya Menen, Gautami Tadimalla, Thiruveer, Nirupam Paritala, Talluri Rameshwari, Praneetha Patnaik, Prem Sagar, Dr Vijaykrishna Naresh and Murali Mohan. Directed by Gomtesh Upadhye, the dysfunctional family comedy has some dramatic, funny and emotional moments that stay with you.

The Darkness Within La Luz del Mundo

The Netflix documentary directed by Carlos Pérez Osorio is a triggering watch. Also known as La oscuridad de La Luz del Mundo, the documentary is about Naasón Joaquín García, the third La Lud del Mundo church leader convicted of child sex offences. The former church leader had 26 charges against him. The documentary focuses on the victims’ and how they live with the painful reality of one man’s harrowing actions.

Ice Cold: Murder, Coffee and Jessica Wongso

The Netflix documentary is based on Jessica Wongso’s murder trial. Jessica was accused of killing her best friend, Mirna Salihin. The makers have shown us what really happened and how social media affected the entire case.

Choona

Directed by Pushpendra Nath Misra, the Netflix Hindi series stars Jimmy Shergill, Namit Das, Vikram Kochhar, Aashim Gulati, Monika Panwar, Chandan Roy and others. It’s a show where 6 misfits seek revenge on a notorious politician by planning a heist to steal Rs 800 crore. The series has a humourous tone, with astrology and greed playing a key role.
