6 Upcoming DC Releases To Look Forward To 

DC fans are about to meet an all-new superhero with the release of Blue Beetle starring Xolo Maridueña in the lead. The film's trailer was well-received and viewers are looking forward to meeting DC's first Latinx superhero. The movie has been directed by Angel Manuel Soto and releases in theatres on August 18. 

Blue Bettle's release comes after the studio's two big releases of the year including Shazam! Fury of the Gods and The Flash. The two sequels kicked off the year for the studio that has been undergoing massive change ever since James Gunn and Peter Safran stepped in as heads. 

Amid the changeup that has been going on, Gunn has announced several upcoming projects and also confirmed the release dates for the same. The studio also has releases lined up from individual franchises that fall under DCEU such as sequels to The Batman and Joker.

After Henry Cavill's exit as Superman, it has also been confirmed that new film revolving around the superhero is in the works and the casting for it has also been announced. For DC fans who are trying to keep up with the studio's confusing release calendar, here's a look at the films to look forward after Blue Beetle. 

Jason Momoa's Aquaman is set to return with yet another film where he will be joined by Patrick Wilson as Orm Marius, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as David Kane, aka Black Manta and Willem Dafoe as Nuidis Vulko. The film directed by James Wan has been through some massive production delays and is now slated to release on December 20, 2023. 

Aquaman & The Lost Kingdom

After winning the Best Actor Oscar for his performance in Joker, Joaquin Phoenix will return for the sequel alongside Lady Gaga as Harley Quinn. The sequel titled Joker: Folie à Deux will be a musical directed by Todd Phillips has been scheduled to release on October 4, 2024 and is expected to be one the studio's biggest movies.

James Gunn is all set to bring a new Superman movie and it is expected to be different from everything we have seen from the studio so far. The film will star David Corenswet as Clark Kent alongside Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane. It has also been reported that the film will feature the live-action debut of Krypto the Superdog. It is scheduled for release on July 11, 2025.

Superman: Legacy

Robert Pattinson will be reprising his role of the caped crusader once again for The Batman sequel. As per fan speculations, The Batman Part II may revolve around DC Comics' No Man's Land storyline, which sees Gotham City become a battlefield after an earthquake. Director Matt Reeves will return to helm the sequel that is slated to arrive in theatres on October 3, 2025. 

The Batman 2 

James Gunn announced that the Supergirl project is in the works in January 2023. Gunn stated that he will present a very different take on the character compared o its previous representations. There has been no update on the casting for this project as of yet. A release date has also not been assigned by the studio as of now. 

Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow 

It has been confirmed that another big project from the studio is also set to be the Penguin series. The production on Matt Reeves' series began production in March 2023. It has been revealed that the show has been halted recently due to the WGA strike. The series is set to arrive sometime in 2024.
