The Marathi thrill-com movie, Vaalvi, directed by Paresh Mokashi, brings a crisp story on infidelity with the main course Karma loaded on the plate. When a couple plan to die by suicide, dark secrets and a dumb plan comes to light. The movie stars Swapnil Joshi as Aniket, Anita Date-Kelkar as Avani (Aniket’s wife), Shivani Surve as Devika (Aniket’s girlfriend) and Subodh Bhave as Dr. Anshuman.
The official description of the movie reads,
After his wife refuses to divorce him, Aniket hatches a plan to get rid of her and live with his girlfriend. What happens when Aniket gets a mysterious call about his wife’s missing dead body?
– Vaalvi Review Contains Mild Spoilers –
We’re already open to the plot that Aniket’s the one who is going to murder his wife. However, things take a U-turn when another character enters into the spot. Apparently, Aniket and Avani have been married for 14 years but don’t have a child. At the same time, since Avani has severe mental health issues, Aniket is fed up and has no relationship with her. While at first it seems like he is genuinely tired of her tantrums, the real truth is he has an affair with a dentist, Devika.

Devika and Aniket plan a murder plot, and almost 80% of it executes, but surprisingly, the couple suicide idea doesn’t work out. Nevertheless, Avani ends up dead. When Aniket thinks it’s all done and returns home with his car driver to pretend he’s shocked to see his wife dead, the corpse is gone.
Who has the corpse? Did Avani die, or is she alive? Will Devika and Aniket get rid of Avani if found alive? That’s the question which will begin, but soon, the viewers will understand a new secret that proceeds to a night journey.

Was The Plot Any Good? Did the Actors Get Things Done Well?
Yes, it is. If you need some dark humour infidelity story where Karma will get you, this movie does justice. Apart from that, it’s not too sensitive but gives a good gag at the end. The theme is strong, and the way the story flows seems smooth. The cinematography is neat, and the chosen locations are at its finest.

While the plot is simple and straightforward, the ending is assumable. Not precisely, but it’s what it is. We will be able to get the catch that something is going to go super bad, and voila, it happens. The ending might seem quick, but there’s nothing funny if things are shown realistically, like getting arrested, going to jail, etc.
The movie completely runs with four characters who are mentioned-above. Apart from them, few other characters, like a cop and a lady, come in and have a small yet pivotal role. Overall, they all performed well, and their natural acting makes one chuckle.
Infidelity Goes Both Ways
The four main characters mess up, so they get what they deserve. If you feel bad for one character, you’ll soon realise they did stanky stuff and believe they deserved the Karma’s blessing. While the movie’s scenario might not be too realistic, there are cases similar to married couple killing each other. Hence, the flick reminds people that broken marriages can end in terror if the couple don’t sit, talk and come to a fair conclusion.

Vaalvi Final Thoughts
The take-home message that I received is it is far better to divorce your spouse than convince them to stay beside. Why would you want someone who’s lost interest in you to be right next to you? It can bring dangerous life scenarios, so it’s better to say goodbye.
Vaalvi is a good movie that gives a nice message, has a funny storyline and runs smoothly without any unnecessary scenes stuffed in it.
The movie is worth watching, so check it out on Zee5 and share your thoughts in the comment section.
