After the events of The Price of Family, we follow the Delle Fave family once more as they go on a vacation to Menorca in the hopes of saving their grandmother from the clutches of her questionable lover, who might be making moves to marry her and steal a hefty inheritance. However, in the midst of planning a murder, the family bicker and fight with one another as old resentments come to the surface but will they be able to realise that the most important thing in life is family?

The sheer insanity of this movie, whose first part was an infuriatingly annoying addition to the comedy genre was enough to rot my brain in 2023, is what keeps you watching what happens next and nothing else. A story that is so stupid that it gives you further brain rot and makes you question yourself at every corner. The fact that The Price of Nonna’s Inheritance is about a family of bumbling buffoons thinking that they are James Bond and can murder the man who will take their inheritance makes you question whether the creators think that their audience has no intelligence whatsoever.
After the first 40 minutes of the runtime, I think I started to question my life. Is this what comedy movies have become? And sure, this is one of those overdramatic ones that takes its subject matter to the extremes and all that but even then, there has to be a limit to how far your imaginations are allowed to run wild before it gets unbelievably (and I can’t stress it enough) annoying.
The characters from the last movie, including parents Carlo and Anna and their kids Emilio and Alessandra, as mentioned previously, decide that they want to get rid of Anna’s mother’s lover, who they are sure is going to murder her and run away with her money. They are pushed by greed to commit murder and, of course, they are pretty bad at their job and more wedding shenanigans follow. None of the characters in this movie are funny or interesting enough to root for.

They are also thoroughly unlikeable and I don’t understand why these characters are written this way. Their relationship, albeit somewhat relatable, seems to have learned nothing from the first movie. They also discuss these very illegal and dangerous plans in detail in the midst of the kitchen of the hotel. There is very little logic in the movie and nothing really makes sense whatsoever and tries to throw whatever silly (logic-less) antics at us in hopes of something sticking. None do, and, in fact, it’s so gratingly obvious and stupid that you lose hope very early on in the runtime.
It’s also interesting that none of the characters seem to love each other at all and are only after the money. We got a glimpse of this in the last film as well, which ended on an insincere and equally unsatisfying positive note, but this time they take it to such a shameful level that it’s difficult to sit through and watch them plan murder only to get their hands on an old woman’s money. And yes, they mention that they don’t want their grandmother to die and all, but come on, that’s clearly not it.
In the end, the problem is solved by -SHOCKINGLY- not committing a crime but even then, the film ends up being quite underwhelming and uninteresting. The problem is solved quickly and conveniently, without giving viewers the chance to understand what is going on. However, I think that, after all the lack of logic, the end is still one of the better conclusions. The principal cast, as always, is really great and although there’s not much of a story or character development, the cast made a great effort. In the end, it’s the blooper reels that made me laugh the most.
The Price of Nonna’s Inheritance Review: Final Thoughts

I am still wondering what the story is and how we are expected to root for and relate to these characters. It’s not enough for them to be thoroughly over-the-top and annoying, but now they are absolutely unbelievable as well. Either way, if you’re bored and need something to run in the background, this is the perfect fit. Other than that, there are better comedy films out there.
