The On1y One Episode 12 Recap

The twelfth episode begins with Wang sitting alone in an empty classroom, lost in thought, reflecting on his emotions and the turbulence of his youth. His quiet contemplation is interrupted as the scene transitions to a typical school day, with the boys attending their regular classes. As Wang watches Tian casually drink water, his gaze lingers on Tian’s neck, making him unexpectedly nervous. Later, back in their dorm, Tian heads to the shower, and Wang’s imagination runs wild, picturing Tian bathing, only to be jolted back to reality when Tian emerges shirtless. Flustered and confused by the unfamiliar emotions stirring within him, Wang tries to brush them off, unsure of how to process his growing feelings for his stepbrother.
Later that evening, Wang and their friend Shia settle down to watch a horror movie. Afterward, Shia opens up about his feelings for He Shi and how one knows when their heart truly belongs to someone. As Shia describes the physical and emotional responses of being in love, Wang’s mind races, filled with images of Tian. Overwhelmed with awkwardness and guilt, Wang silently grapples with the fact that his heart is leading him toward Tian, who is not only his classmate but also his stepbrother.

Just then, Tian enters the room, prompting Wang to rush out to get some water, trying to steady his nerves. Shia, noticing Wang’s calm demeanor during the horror film, comments to Tian on how brave Wang seems. This triggers a memory for Tian of the night Wang had asked him to stay close because he was scared of sleeping alone after a dorm break-in. Suspicious of Wang’s current behavior, Tian contemplates questioning him but decides against it. Once again, Wang’s heart races as he catches sight of Tian casually chugging water.
As the main exams approach, Wang is increasingly distracted by his conflicting feelings, and his performance suffers. During the exam, his mind wanders, and he ends up deliberately giving incorrect answers. Later, when he tells his friends that he may not pass the major exam, no one takes him seriously, assuming it’s just nerves. Meanwhile, Xi tries to confront Lin about the kiss they shared the previous night, but Lin avoids the topic entirely, leaving Xi frustrated and confused.

When the exam results are released, the entire class is shocked to discover that Wang didn’t make it into the top 30 and will have to switch to Class B. His friends are bewildered, but Tian is furious, knowing deep down that Wang had purposely failed. Tian confronts Wang in a tense, awkward argument, but Wang remains silent, his thoughts consumed by memories of his late mother’s advice. In a flashback, viewers see Wang erasing his correct answers on purpose, believing that distancing himself from Tian by changing classes will help him suppress his growing affection for him. Devastated by this realization, Tian retreats to the staircase, where he breaks down in tears, blaming himself for Wang’s decision to sabotage his future.
Meanwhile, Xi finally corners Lin and demands to know why he has been avoiding him. Lin, with great difficulty, confesses that he has feelings for Xi. The two share a silent, emotionally charged moment, neither fully able to express the depth of their feelings. The episode concludes with both Tian and Wang standing at separate windows, watching the rain pour down. In the somber stillness, they each prepare to confront their feelings and face the complexity of their youth. Both know that they must be true to themselves, but the road ahead is fraught with uncertainty and unspoken emotions.

The On1y One Episode 12 Review
This episode takes a more introspective turn, delving deeply into Wang’s internal struggles as he grapples with his growing feelings for Tian.
