Leading with a fantastical twist, The Heavenly Idol is the latest K-drama released by tvN starring Kim Min-kyu as Rembrary or Woo Yeon-woo, Go Bo-gyeol as Kim Dal, Lee Jang-woo as the Evil One or Shin Jo-woon and others. Premiering on the South Korean broadcast network on February 15, 2023, the series has covered two episodes so far, releasing on Wednesday and Thursday respectively. Written by Lee Cheon-geum and directed by Lee So-yoon and Park So-yeon, it has been adapted from the web novel created by Shin Hwa-jin.

The Heavenly Idol k-drama

Kicking off its action from the supernatural world of Pontifex, the show centres around Rembrary and his accompanying armed forces who are up against the Evil One’s tyranny. As the two are embroiled in a fight against each other, a mystical force interrupts the scene and magically transports the former to the human world. He then swaps souls with Woo Yeon-woo, a K-pop idol of the boy group Wild Animal, whose real-self takes Rembrary’s place in the other world.

Now, not only does Rembrary have to struggle with the present happenings of the contemporary world while trying to adjust to his new life as a K-pop idol, he must also find a way back to his side of the world and reinstate the present order. This exchange has further endangered both the worlds now, and exposed them to the Evil One’s wrath.

The new stills released by tvN portray Min-kyu and Hong Seung-beom, who plays the role of the leader and sub-rapper in the K-pop group Wild Animal. The former’s charms are defined as an inescapable entity that hold the audience’s attention to the screen. Moreover, the second photo reveals him to be engrossed in a shooting schedule of some sort. The scenes put out by tvN have further ignited the viewers’ interest ahead of this week’s episodes.
