The Great Indian Kapil Show Episode 5 Review

In the latest episode of The Great Indian Kapil Show, the spotlight was on none other than Bollywood’s Mr Perfectionist, Aamir Khan, marking his first appearance on the show in over a decade. As the episode unfolded, viewers were treated to a nostalgic trip down memory lane reminiscent of Kapil Sharma’s previous hits like Comedy Nights With Kapil and The Kapil Sharma Show, as the presence of one of Bollywood’s famous actors lightened the space.

The episode kicked off with a hilarious sketch comedy performance featuring Kapil Sharma’s talented ensemble, including Sunil Grover, Rajiv Thakur, and Kiku Sharda, paying tribute to Aamir Khan’s iconic filmography by donning various avatars from films like Dangal, PK, and Ghajini, adding their own comedic twists. A few moments later, Aamir Khan himself took centre stage, delighting the audience with his trademark Oh Teri dialogue and a playful dance move from one of his films. Kapil Sharma didn’t hold back either, cleverly referencing the Raja Hindustani kiss and making the crowd go crazy.

The episode also delved into candid conversations with Aamir Khan discussing his recent film failures and shedding light on why he’s often referred to as Mr Perfectionist. Despite the insightful discussions and Aamir Khan’s engaging life experience, the episode failed to leave a remarkable humourous impression. While the discussions were intriguing as Aamir Khan explained about his characters to the audience, the episode lost the Kapil Sharma touch. It felt more like an Aamir Khan-led show.

Let’s agree, if you’re a die-hard fan of Aamir Khan, seeing him in his natural glow, talking about his life and sharing experiences is a boon. But if you’re in for an hour of an entertaining comedy show with a famous guest, then the fifth episode is a dull one. Thanks to Kiku Sharda’s Chef Dhaniya Lal and Krushna Abhishek’s Air Hostess Mona, and Sunil Grover’s Engineer Chumbak Mittal, the viewers get a chance to laugh then and now. Otherwise, even Aamir Khan wasn’t laughing much but was reserved, and there and here a bit goofy.

Despite its shortcomings, the episode made the guest shine more as Aamir’s engaging storytelling and relatable anecdotes about his family and profession kept viewers entertained throughout. Overall, Aamir Khan’s appearance helped the show to get a viewers hike and added more star power. Hopefully, the next episode with Bobby Deol and Sunny Deol will bring back the light-hearted comedy show and not once again make the viewers watch a whole episode of guests and their deep conversations unless it is a man like Aamir Khan who rarely goes to award shows.

The Great Indian Kapil Show is streaming now on Netflix.
