The Childe Teaser: Kim Seon-ho Turns Villain While Chasing After a ‘Friend’

The Childe Teaser presents actor Kim Seon-ho in an unexpected role that we have never seen before. Titled 귀공자 is Korean, it is an upcoming action thriller film which is directed by Park Hoon-jung, who is popularly known for New World, Night in Paradise, and The Witch instalment.

Bringing the same noir-esque aesthetic to this story, the ensemble cast of the film includes Kim Seon-ho as Gwi Gong-ja, Kang Tae-joo as Marco, Kim Kang-woo as Han Yi-sa and Go A-ra as Yun-ju. Each character has shades of grey to them, making them susceptible to do anything for their survival or vengeance.

The story will follow a mysterious man (Seon-ho) who seems to be determined to make Marco’s life hell. Played by a rookie actor, the character of Marco is a boxer with a Korean father and a Filipino mother who travels from one illegal arena to another in the Philippines, trying to make money.

In the teaser, we see Seon-ho’s character sitting in a car and reading the visa application details of a man named Marco Han, applying for his stay in the Philippines. It looks like he has been looking for Marco, even keeping an eye on him for a while & finds the right moment to make his move finally. The scene is followed by a plane taking off, which could imply that he followed Marco to the other country as well.

Without wasting any time, he makes acquaintances with him right on the plane by staring quite closely at his monitor screen. When Marco asks him ‘Who are you?’ in English, he smilingly replies, ‘Friend’ in Korean. But his smile is anything but friendly and definitely gives the creeps.

The following scenes show that he has only one target, and he will do or kill anyone for that. We see Marco frantically running in a jungle as if someone is chasing him, and on the other hand, Gwi Gong-ja is shooting at a car. In the background, Marco is asking them who they really are but gets an ambiguous reply that it’s all business and that they are professionals.

The last few seconds of the teaser show some action-packed sequences and introduce its characters. Even Go A-ra is seen in a new avatar as she steers the car coolly & might play the role of a friend or saviour to Marco. The video ends in yet another terrifying note, as Seon-ho is seen saying, ‘I told you we will meet again right’, and one can sense the unsettling feeling coming from him.

If anything, the teaser has given a new dimension to Kim Seon-ho as an actor & definitely piqued the interest to know the backstory of his character & what it is that he is seeking.
