The story revolves around the Sun family, a powerful gangster syndicate based in Taipei, Taiwan. Eileen and her son Bruce make a conscious choice to break away from this criminal life, seeking safety in Los Angeles. However, when their father and leader is assassinated, Charles Sun, Bruce’s brother, relocates to LA to protect their vulnerable family from rival factions intent on tearing down their empire. As Bruce, unaware of his family’s criminal ties and his brother’s participation, gets drawn into the perilous underworld he never knew existed, he undergoes a sudden and profound transformation.

The narrative follows Charles Sun, the son of Big Sun, a formidable figure as the Red Pole within the Jade Dragons of the Triad. When Big Sun is incapacitated after being shot, Charles shoulders the responsibility of uncovering the audacious assailant challenging their authority. Simultaneously, he must safeguard his mother and younger brother by embarking on a journey to Los Angeles.

As Charles reunites with his family, their safety becomes compromised, exposing them to their adversaries. This endangers his mother, Eileen, leading her down a transformative path. Meanwhile, Charles’ younger brother, Bruce, grapples with revelations about their father and their family’s business, discovering surprising capabilities within himself amidst escalating chaos.

The Brothers Sun series commences with an external threat challenging the Sun family’s survival. However, as events unfold, the primary source of tension shifts to their intricate relationships, pinpointing Big Sun as the epicentre of turmoil. His true nature emerges—cruel, manipulative, fixated solely on power, disregarding familial ties despite emphasizing their significance to Charles.

Issues between Big Sun and Eileen intensify, notably when she discovers that he hasn’t even informed her about her sister’s demise. Frustrated by his deception, Eileen resolves to eliminate him and vie for the position of Dragon Head. Yet, Big Sun doesn’t yield easily. He employs Charles as a shield against Eileen’s plans. Despite her perseverance, her strategy collapses when law enforcement and adversaries converge during the Triad meeting.

Ultimately, the Boxers are vanquished, law enforcement seizes Triad leaders, and Frank Ma offers aid under the condition of Big Sun’s imprisonment. Bruce believes this action will restore normalcy, but it doesn’t.

In the hospital, Eileen confronts Big Sun, not only revelling in her triumph but also outlining her retribution for his injustices. Thus, Eileen inflicts a perpetual state of torment upon him, satisfying her quest for revenge.

Ever since Bruce uncovered the truth about his family, his deepest desire has been a return to normalcy. He believes that erasing the influence of the Boxers and Big Sun could undo the damage. Unveiling her suppressed ambitions after years of restraint, she sees an opportunity to ascend not just as the Jade Dragons’ leader but to command all Triads. However, this would entail a return to Taipei.

As the season unfolds, Eileen showcases a cunning prowess beyond expectations, demonstrating her zeal and competence for the role. Assured of Bruce’s ability to handle himself and the diminished threat from the Boxers, she seizes her newfound freedom to chase her lifelong dream in Taipei. Before departing, she offers Charles the choice to stay behind and generously secures a bakery for him to pursue his passion.

Recognising his mother’s need for all available resources to execute her ambitious plans, Charles, acknowledges his pivotal role. His yearning for a life running a bakery, marrying his beloved, and starting a family contrasts starkly with his obligation to safeguard his existing family. Though he voices reluctance about accompanying his mother to Taipei, she emphasizes his choice. While it’s not his desire, duty compels him. Even amid substantial changes since his arrival in Los Angeles, Charles understands that some things endure, notably his unwavering responsibility to protect his family at any cost.
