The Accident Review

In Netflix’s newest Spanish drama-thriller series, we see a community of well-off families losing their children to an avoidable freak accident. The series focuses on the aftermath of the accident and the different ways people face the grief of losing a loved one. The series runs heavy with the heartbreak of the tragedy and as more and more secrets come out of the closet, the murkier the series gets. The series focuses on the different families who have lost their children to the tragedy and we discuss how and if the tragedy could’ve been avoided in every episode.

With a strong cast to back it up, The Accident is a heartbreaking ordeal for viewers. There’s not a lot of thrill in it because the shocking incident starts and ends within minutes but what follows it is far more terrible – the weight of the guilt of a (probably) preventable situation and wrestling with different feelings. The series is character-driven and we go quite deep into the issues of each one of the characters in the aftermath. As things begin to fall apart, one can’t help but look right in the face of grief which is palpable in every second of the runtime.

The series is dramatic and overwhelming at times and further looks at the rich vs poor dynamic quite a bit. The series handles several social issues throughout its runtime and sometimes it gets a bit much, but these different incidents and issues are all part of a larger problem that the 10-episode series takes its time to delve into. The shocking secrets that the people handle are some of the most intense moments in the series and they will sometimes catch you unawares.

While Emiliano grapples with loss and heartbreak there’s the weight of his professional life weighing on him as well. On the other hand, Daniela tries to weigh her heartbreak of losing her son while cracking down on a drug business that is overtaking the local school. Apart from these storylines, there is Lupe and Charro’s storyline, wherein their abusive relationship wreaks havoc everywhere. The series focuses on these various aspects, but the overall theme is devastating enough to keep viewers entertained.

The Accident features some great actors from many well-known shows who bring forth the desperation of the situation perfectly. Thrilling and emotional in every scene, the performances are good enough to warrant a watch and you feel the different feelings associated with the characters thanks to their portrayal of them. From Emiliano’s mixed feelings about her situation to Paula’s situation – it’s all a complete mess that starts to unravel the moment the series starts. It’s like a ticking time bomb.

  1. Well that’s one way to get too NEVERLAND (peter pan),

Very bad computer effects, if it had crashed into the trees it would look more real and more believing,

Here that thing was stuck in the air and was not going anywhere,

And then the people who lost the kids going for revenge, and thats looks like about it the rest of the show,

For now I’M OUT this is dumb, this is for people with kids and feelings in real life.

  2. Im at episode 5, they still angry ALL OF THEM,

    Just pointing fingers at EVERYONE,

    Arguments and actually fIst fight,
Then is sadness and crying, treating some guys,

ITS UNBEARABLE TOO WATCH, its just getting more messy as it goes,

AWOID THIS GARBAGE AS THE PLAGUE….

  3. OOOH CRY ME A FUCKING RIVER…this was a crasy trip, everyone is like killing everyone,

That cherro guy should be buried alive after all that sh…t he done, but noooo

Only a regular arrested and its over, could have done more here that was boring and cheap ending…

I just raced trought the whoole thing in one go, dont care, one time watch, forgettable…
