Tastefully Yours Episode 7 Review: Unnecessary Drama Done, Now For the Main Course

In last week’s episode of Tastefully Yours, Yeon-joo and Jeon Min go to Sapporo to tend to their former boss’s side as he’s very sick. A distressed Beom-woo makes his way to her, resulting in several uncomfortable situations. The biggest twist, however, is when Beom-woo learns that Hansang is partnering up with Le Murir, and Jeon Min might just become the head chef in his previous workplace.

Tastefully Yours Episode 7 has a runtime of 59 minutes.

Tastefully Yours Episode 7 Recap

The episode opens with Yu-jin waking up with a killer hangover and realising that he has been utterly duped. Elsewhere, Beom-woo gets a call from Young-hye, who tells him about the Hansang x Le Murir collaboration. It leaves Beom-woo confused, and he immediately jumps to figuring out what’s wrong. However, out of all the things that are happening, he is left heartbroken when he sees Yeon-joo and Jeon Min sharing a hearty laugh inside the pub.

Jeon Min invites Yeon-joo to come back to Murir, and he shares what kept him going at the restaurant after she left. She also shares that she has been waiting for him for a long time. As Beom-woo returns, Jeon Min gets a text from Seon-woo for an emergency call, and the two share a drink together as she shares her past with him.

They later walk together in search of something to eat, and Yeon-joo is drawn to a menu offering uni ramen. She enquires about it, but to no avail. However, she does realise that Tatsuo was the one who asked for the ramen after he missed her uni ramen. Beom-woo suggests that she make the ramen for Tatsuo, and an ecstatic Yeon-joo kisses him, looking absolutely radiant and taking him by surprise.

After she leaves, Beom-woo decides to think deeper about the Le Murir problem while Yeong-hye arrives at Jungjae to steal their recipe book. Meanwhile, Beom-woo confronts Jeon Min and figures out his plan, unfortunately, because he has done this many times. Beom-woo further questions his intentions behind poaching Yeon-joo, but Jeon Min doesn’t take this allegation lightly and asks about his intentions as well. This leaves the two in a stalemate.

The next morning, Yeon-joo shops around for ingredients for the uni ramen and calls Beom-woo, but isn’t able to get hold of him. She goes back to Le Murir and starts cooking, only for Beom-woo to walk in with all of his chaotic energy. But, thankfully for him, he got Korean Doenjang for her, leaving her extremely happy. Just then, she stumbles upon a bunch of pills in the waste bin that Beom-woo had knocked over, and before she can figure out what’s going on, Jeon Min arrives to hastily take them away from her.

He acts cagey with the pills, but they decide to move past it as they decide to start working on the ramen. After a job well done, they take the food to Tatsuo, who gorges on the food. It leaves everyone overjoyed and a bit confused as well. Either way, Tatsuo immediately recognises Yeon-joo thanks to her cooking, which leaves her overcome with emotion. He also apologises to her about the pufferfish incident, which makes everyone in the room start to sob.

Eventually, Jeon Min asks to talk to Tatsuo, and afterwards, he announces to everyone that he will be the new owner of Le Murir. However, Yeon-joo doesn’t buy it and questions whether he is truly doing it for Tatsuo or for himself. When he tries to feed her some more crap, she takes out the medicine and asks him why he has been throwing away Tatsuo’s medicine. He tells her that Tatsuo has been throwing out the medicines himself, and he lets him do it, hoping he will get better.

Yeon-joo presses for more answers, but Jeon Min tells her that the chefs under him would’ve been in debt had he not done what he did. He refuses to listen to her and informs her that he will do what he must. Just then, Beom-woo steps in to tell him that he has been reinstated to the board at Hansang and has thrown out the M&A proposal. Jeon Min is left speechless and then punches Beom-woo. A scuffle breaks out, and Yeon-joo angrily pushes Beom-woo to the ground. Eventually, the noise makes Tatsuo come out, and he calls everyone inside.

He makes amends with everyone and tells them to find another solution together instead of selling the restaurant, promising to change. Later, Yeon-joo and Jeon Min hash out their own issues as well, with Yeon-joo telling him that they have become two very different people now. After bidding each other goodbye, the two make their way back home. On the flight, Beom-woo gets an ominous message from his mother that he owes her for getting him reinstated to the board.

The next morning, Beom-woo learns that Yu-jin has disappeared and runs to find him. However, he finds Chun-seung trapped in the garage. He tells him about Young-hye running off with Yu-jin and realises that they might have gotten their hands on the recipe book. The hunch is confirmed when he goes to Jungjae and isn’t able to find it anywhere. He rushes to Seoul to stop Young-hye from using Yeon-joo’s recipes, but it might be too late.

When I tell you that I am GLAD that the love triangle subplot has come to an end, it’s an understatement. As we rush towards the ending, the only thing that I want is for the light, breezy feel of the drama to come back. But with the recipe book now gone, a face-off is imminent. The preview felt pretty gloomy, and Beom-woo will have to tell Yeon-joo the truth about his arrival at Jungjae. Unfortunately, if Seon-woo tells her first, things are going to get messy. I hope we at least get two good episodes in the end where I won’t feel utterly heartbroken by the events, and considering everything, we might get just that.
