Steal Ending Explained
The series opens with a terrifying heist at Lochmill Capital, a pension fund investment company, from where a bunch of masked robbers steal $4 million of common people’s pension funds and make a run for it. It’s showcased early on that Zara, an employee who is called a hero thanks to her quick problem-solving skills, has always been involved in the heist, as was her friend and colleague, Luke.
However, soon after the heist, things start to hit the fan when the police get involved, and Luke begins to lose his mind, worrying that someone is out to get him. Unfortunately, before things can escalate, he is abducted, and DCI Rhys Covac catches Zara stumbling out of his apartment complex. Confused, he is eventually certain that Zara has something to do with the heist when she, too, starts to fumble on her words and when she is followed by different people, she opens up to Rhys, who promises to help her if she can get more information on who else is involved.

Zara agrees to work with Rhys, but things slowly start to fall apart as the MI6 gets involved as well, and with everyone after everyone, the situation gets murkier, and everyone seems to be behind the heist. Zara quickly figures out that Milo, one of her colleagues, was also a part of the situation and threatens to leak his name if he doesn’t help her, and he reluctantly gives her a number that she hands over to the MI6, who are now threatening her as well.
Now holding a new identity courtesy of the MI6, she takes matters into her own hands after learning that she was always supposed to be the fall guy for the heist, and Milo and Luke knew about it. She goes to her mother, who is holding her hardware wallet with $5 million ransom, and uses her own predictable habits against her to get the money out.

Who is the mastermind behind the heist?
After a lot of bloodshed and deaths, it’s Rhys who figures out who the real perpetrator is – Darren Yoshida. A brilliant accountant who took all of this money and moved it from one rich, corrupt person to the next and leaked the information to the press in hopes of bringing about social change. He gives Rhys and Zara an opportunity to keep their mouths shut and take $10 million in exchange, but she refuses to be tied to him.

What happens in the end?
In the end, as Rhys wonders whether pushing away the money was the right move, Zara informs him that she has Milo’s $20 million with her, that they can now use to do whatever they want, and they don’t have to live on Darren’s terms. It’s a win-win for all.
