Siren’s Kiss Episode 2 Recap

Episode 2 begins with a flashback showing Seol-a receiving a call about her fiance, Seung-jae’s death. The scene then cuts to Woo-seok questioning her about Seung-jae’s cancelled 700 million won insurance policy right before his death. Seol-a states she has nothing to do with his death but Woo-seok doesn’t seem to buy it.

The next day, Woo-seok goes to Yoon-ji’s house to meet her mother and give the insurance claims. Seol-a also arrives there with all the company documents of Yoon-ji. Over there, Seol-a sees Yoon-ji’s calendar marked with important dates and notes which shows how her routine was and what she planned ahead. Seol-a immediately takes the calendar and puts it in her purse.

Woo-seok takes a leave the next day but doesn’t stop from assisting another insurance fraud case. After helping his fellow cop, he asks him help with Seung-jae’s case and digs some details. The cop states that Seung-jae’s death indeed is an accident however Seol-a didn’t even cry or budge but seemed very calm during his death.

Another flashback then reveals that Seung-jae and Yoon-ji were hooking up behind Seol-a and when she caught them, she felt extremely betrayed. After this, Woo-seok gets a call from the Insurance Fraud Prevention Team, who tell about Seol-a’s life insurance scheme. Woo-seok also learns that around the time that Seol-a got the insurance filed, a young doctor in his named Choi Young-ho also died suddenly after injecting a drug.

The report shows that his 500 million won insurance claim’s beneficiary is Seol-a. Seems like he also revoked the insurance right before his death. This pattern makes Woo-seok believe that Seol-a is extremely suspicious and dangerous. To figure the dirt, Woo-seok digs about the doctor and gets more information about him through nurse Kim Mi-yeon.

The nurse tells that before Seol-a dated the doctor Young-ho, she was with another man who later died in Syria during an attack. The episode closes with Woo-seok confronting Seol-a with all the news he got about her and about the three men whom she has dated and their death.

Seol-a gets closer to Woo-seok and in a composed way asks him who might be the man who is going to love her and this makes Woo-seok uncomfortable.

The second episode shows more of Seol-a’s dating life and the secrets buried beneath. However it seems like our home girl has gone through betrayals from these men and surely their deaths might have something to do with avenging her agony. Meanwhile, Woo-seok’s growing anger on Seol-a is surely going to turn into a love story the moment he realises she’s the one who has been betrayed and not the other way around.

So far the series is building up really good. The cast’s acting is brilliant, the outfits, the sound design and what not, everything seems well and good. If there’s something missing, it is maybe the pacing might be a bit slow but hey, it’s only the second episode. Hence we have still a long way to go to see how the series is doing!
