The everyday cycle of our routines and time schedules can be taxing, but not when you’ve got your regular supply of serotonin as supplied by the never-ending list of SEVENTEEN variety shows. Looking from the outside, you can make the best of their chaotic family dynamic as they tease each other tirelessly and so much more. Our only advice is that you would perhaps need to lower the volume at some point.
Having secured their ticket to Na PD’s healing vacation show Youth Over Flowers, SEVENTEEN has promised us more laughs and shenanigans in the future. However, before we (and SEVENTEEN) are surprisingly pulled into this new journey, we can always catch up on the side-splitting variety show appearances they’ve already made.
SEVENTEEN Variety Shows That Showcased the Kpop Group’s Chaotic Side
1. Going SEVENTEEN
Without a doubt, it was inevitable that this list would be topping the group’s original variety web series list (available on YouTube for streaming). Presented with numerous challenges and rib-tickling missions, the members carry out activities ranging from sports to performing impromptu skits or indulge in heartwarming discussions with each other and even the show’s crew members depending on the particular episode’s theme.
2. MMTG
Producer Lee Eun-jae, professionally known as JaeJae in the South Korean entertainment biz, has invited the group formed by PLEDIS Entertainment on several accounts, and each appearance has been fuelled by endless chortling sessions. The boy band later returned the favour by welcoming her to enter into a collaboration with their own series Going SEVENTEEN.
3. The Game Caterers
It’s safe to assume that when a group as huge as SEVENTEEN drops by your production set, the producers are bound to have a mental breakdown (all in good faith). Although only a few members joined Na Yeong-seok’s show previously with fellow HYBE label mates, the latest set of episodes of the series featured all 13 members playing all sorts of games like the Guess Who snack game, Word Relay, Music Quiz, basketball and more, leading to the best chaotic concoction possible and ending with (Spoiler Alert) the group winning over a chance to appear on his vacation variety show Youth Over Flowers. (Vernon chortling like a goose sums up the new Game Caterers episodes)
4. SEVENTEEN X Lee Young My Alcohol Diary
There may not be enough room for the entire group to show up at Youngji’s My Alcohol Diary set yet, but it’s still become a second home to the group with quite a few of them having appeared separately. Starting with the entertainment professor himself, Boo Seungkwan, to be followed by an emotional and short outing by Hoshi and DK and Joshua’s recent appearance as a duo, these episodes have equally amused non-fans.
5. In the SOOP
Although In the Soop is a yet another vacations series, you best believe that where SEVENTEEN goes, their signature sitcom lives follow. Be it singing their hearts out during karaoke sessions, working out or reminiscing their old trainee years, this group will always serve you with the best comedy.

6. One Fine Day
SEVENTEEN was the first group to have appeared twice on the show, and even if you haven’t watched the golden gem yet, you’ve probably come across this clip of Wonwoo and Hoshi pulling each other’s leg as part of a secret mission. Seeing the members in their rookie years is equally emotional as it is hilarious, especially with their unhinged and unfiltered antics taking centre stage.
7. Idol Room
From dissing each other on a rap track to competing against, their Idol Room features are fiery episodes packed with their never die attitude.
8. Knowing Brothers
Aka Men On A Mission, this South Korean variety series is basically a sitcom show set up as a high school where the pre-existing host members play high school students, and their invited guests pose as transfer students, giving rise to slapsticks comedy skits and introductions. Even the video’s thumbnail is self explanatory in terms of how loud this episode had been – exactly how and why we love the 13-member boy group.
9. Dingo Music’s Mafia Dance
There’s no other group that quite plays the Mafia game like SEVENTEEN. When even the citizens switch sides and conspire to pull the police down, all pandemonium breaks out, but that’s just another day in CARAT land, isn’t it? Completing their Left and Right promotions at the time, all members partake in this game of ‘Dance Mafia’ wherein all of their earpieces are playing the same song, except for a few members. It’s up to the assigned police to identify the imposters in their midst.
10. Amigo TV Season 2
Yet another one of the group’s old features on variety shows that allows the general public a view into how their comedic timing sits well when they’re all together. “The more the merrier” was indeed a phrase concocted to describe SEVENTEEN’s constant dynamic regardless of where they are.
11. Yang and Nam Show
Eric Nam has known the group members since their early years in the industry, and has even mentioned how watching them grow up has been just as much of a soul-stirring experience as it has been for their fans. Co-hosted by Nam and Yang Se-hyung, this show again captures instances of the K-pop music act’s members driving each other to the edge by teasing one another.
