The internet has absolutely lapped up the new Victorian Era Bridgerton story, and it is evident in the Queen Charlotte A Bridgerton Story Twitter reactions. This show stars India Amarteifio as the younger version of the titular character, while Golda Rosheuvel is the older counterpart we’ve met before. Shonda Rhimes takes full charge of the series as the creator, while Tom Verica directs the episodes.
The new addition to Netflix’s catalogue consists of 6 episodes, with their runtime ranging between 53-60 minutes. With Jeffrey Jur’s cinematography, the series also stars Arsema Thomas as young Lady Agatha Danbury, Adjoa Andoh as the older (and present version), Sam Clemmett as young Brimsley, Corey Mylchreest as young King George III, Michelle Fairley as Dowager Princess Augusta and others.
Talk about an enemies-to-lovers story but with an arranged marriage twist. It must be noted that while most arranged marriage stories start off like that, this one takes viewers through a rollercoaster. We start by seeing Charlotte absolutely opposed to this union. Leaving Germany and coming to Britain was not what she had in mind for her life. When she finally gets an opening before the wedding ceremony, she finds a garden and tries to go over the wall.
Unbeknownst to her, George comes up to her and asks why she wants to go over the wall, and she explains that she doesn’t care what the King looks like or anything. All she wants is freedom. She is a lady in distress, and she must be helped. George then takes the time to explain that he cannot really do that because he is about to be her husband, and it would hurt his chances in the Parliament and just Britain in general.
This is the meet-cute that informs their dynamic throughout the episodes. She is extremely straightforward, ready to battle it out, while he stays cautious and tests the waters because that is how he grew up. The beginnings of their relationship are extremely rocky, with the only thing working for them being the even-day deal they came up with to ensure the King of England has heirs. The sexual tension is off the charts.

After their initial courtship, they decide to give it a try again, this time making sure they are doing everything honestly and with each other. Amidst all this, Lady Danbury has been a great help. She trains Charlotte in the ways of the ton and the way Modern Britain Society works. In the present day, we see the entire ton mourning the loss of the young Princess who was supposed to be the heir to the throne. Now that the bloodline may vanish, Queen Charlotte has asked her children to make some good decisions and produce an heir.
Fans are thoroughly enjoying this prequel of how Queen Charlotte got together with King George. While there are definite liberties taken with the story, the humour and the sass Queen Charlotte brings to the front. It is brilliant that fans have also picked up on the increased angst and tension in this edition of the Bridgerton saga. They are also applauding Anthony and the lineage he comes from, considering his grandfather was quite the charmer.
They also talked about how the show managed to create some parallels from real life in it to comment on the nature of this conversation and the way it puts Britain behind. People are still not over the ‘jumping over the wall’ metaphor the couple has used to centre their relationship around.
