NCT’s Lucas has finally bid goodbye to the K-pop groups NCT and WayV, as announced by his representative agency, SM Entertainment on May 10, 2023. Taking up to social media, the company shared that after deliberate discussions, the artist has decided to part ways with the groups and pursue his individual endeavours.
They further assured that he is certainly planning to show his new side and work as a solo artist soon, and asked the fans to support him in his journey. However, the notice does not mention if Lucas has parted ways with SM as well. It can be speculated that he will start his journey as a soloist, under the same label.
Soon after the announcement, Lucas also posted a handwritten note on his Instagram, sharing that it was a difficult decision to leave his groups after almost 8 years. Talking about his group mates and the strong friendship that he had with them, he said, “I hope that the members will remember me as Huang Xuxi, not just Lucas. I genuinely love them and will always support them from the bottom of my heart.’

Even he emphasized his upcoming solo activities, making fans wonder if he will be releasing something soon. He was one of the popular members of the group and had quite some activities lined up, including his and Hendery’s unit song Jalapeno. However, due to the controversy surrounding his past relationship, everything was postponed and even the music video is yet to be released, after almost a year.
NCT’s Lucas Post
His hiatus from group activities and comebacks made fans wonder about his possible return & if he has been removed from the group completely. A few months ago, a dance practice video was posted on his social media, making many excited for his return, however, it was also faced with some backlash. Looking at how the general public was reacting, the decision to finally depart might have stemmed from it.
Even since the news was announced, the majority of the fans were wishing him luck and hoping to see him do better as a solo artist. However, a few fans were quick to edit him out of all group information sites like Wikipedia and even cheer on his departure. Tags like ‘War is Over’ and ‘WayV is 6’ were also trending. However, the announcement didn’t mention anything about his involvement in the group SuperM and if he will be continuing with them.
With EXO’s Kai also enlisting in the military, it is quite unlikely for the group to come back anytime soon, but it wouldn’t be a surprise if he remains part of the group in the coming years.
