Exclusive! Nawazuddin Siddiqui on Heropanti 2 Villain Laila, “There’s a Feminine Touch to Him”

The 2 years of lockdown and pandemic affected the theatrical releases of many films. Just like many stars, after a lot of time, Nawazuddin Siddiqui will appear on the big screen with Heropanti 2. Directed by Ahmed Khan, the film also stars Tiger Shroff and Tara Sutaria. Nawaz will play the villainous role of Laila against Tiger.

The trailer has left everyone bewildered as Nawazuddin is seen in a different avatar. Leisurebyte spoke to the Serious Men actor and asked him more about Laila and how he prepared for it.

When asked what made him say yes to Heropanti 2, Siddiqui answered, “I became interested in the film as soon as I learned the name of the character, ‘Laila.’ I realised I’d be able to accomplish something new. The character has a feminine touch to him, and he’s also a magician and ruthless. It has always been my desire to play a cruel character with a distinct style and personality. Thank God, my wish has come true..”

In the trailer, Laila appears funny but also has a cruel side to him. I asked Nawazuddin how did he manage to balance the act of being hilarious and being cruel and not go overboard with the funny side. The actor shared, “We have directors for the film so that they can help us if we go out of the box. But we added a lot of traits to the character spontaneously. I make sure that I don’t cross the line in any scene. I re-check myself in every scene.”

Siddiqui was all praises for his co-star Tiger Shroff. When asked about the action scenes and if he would do any stunts like Shroff, Nawaz stated, “He’s perfect with his dance and action scenes. Sometimes, I look at him and think it’s not possible for anyone else to do the stunts he does. He works hard. You will find out when you watch the film.”

Nawazuddin Siddiqui is a brilliant actor and delivered some fantastic performances. He’s played a villain before and has impressed the moviegoers. When asked if he had any input to give to Ahmed Khan about how Laila should be portrayed, he said, “It is important to come on the same page. Before we started filming, the team had several meetings and readings.”

“We discussed how far the character can go and if it can go out of the box. Sometimes, things would go a different way when I would rehearse the character. But that’s part of the performance. But I did the preparation with the director,” added the Heropanti 2 actor.

Produced by Sajid Nadiadwala Entertainment, Heropanti 2 will release in cinemas on April 29, 2022.
