Coming up as the first official subunit of the group, MONSTA X Shownu Hyungwon team is bringing the heat this July! Pitching in as the dance-line of the Starship Entertainment boy group, the impressively towering members are ready to debut with their first mini album in the coming month.
MONSTA X members have been dealing out music one after the other. Only recently, the rap-line released their solo projects. Joohoney’s album, Lights, came out in May, followed by the group’s ‘maknae’ IM presenting his extended play titled Overdrive a few days ago. It’s safe to claim that they’ve kept their fans on their toes with the amount of entertaining content they’ve put out in the recent times without a break. Although Minhyuk, the second eldest one in the lot, is off to complete his mandatory military stint, the leader’s (MONSTA X Shownu) return has marked a renewed interest in further shuffling experimentations, leading to the debut of the said subunit soon.
Prior to the information of their album being revealed, the new subunit’s debut plans were already laid out to the public as the news of the pair headlining K-pop music festivals made front page. Expected to appease the crowds at the Krazy K-Pop Super Concert this August, the two members will be spotted at UBS Arena, Belmont Park in New York.
And that’s not the only event they’ll be attending as a subunit. KAMPFEST CDMX in August is yet another music fest they’ll be performing at. Notably, since these public appearances are scheduled for a month after their July South Korean debut, we can expect them to serve us their latest upcoming hits. The two have previously released self-choreographed dance covers, both individual and together, on MONSTA X’s official YouTube channel, which makes this debut plan an even more captivating vision.
While we can only anticipate their music at the present moment, and speculate what the album will sound and look like, the intrigue around this K-pop news flash is real. Let’s get into what we know about the album so far.
MONSTA X Shownu Hyungwon 1st Mini Album Deets
On June 28, 2023, Starship Entertainment announced the album title of the duo’s first project as The Unseen, which aptly goes along with the idea of the subunit reveal as well. Previously Joohoney and Kihyun have partnered together for some special stage performances at their former world tours, and even contributed to a video game OST. They’re unofficially known as 2CHAIN together. However, Shownu and Hyungwon’s performance together has been sealed as an official project backed by their entertainment label, making them the first formal subunit of the group.
A thought-provoking official logo for the team was also unveiled a few days ago. Although a simple vision at that, it had the group’s fans appreciating the creative team behind the work.
