The Power Rangers have always been a childhood staple. No child with a television or cable subscription has gone without watching this iconic show. Now that they have recreated that energy entirely in the 30-year reunion titled Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Once and Always, we had decided to compile some of the iconic moments from the film that takes us right back to when the show started.
Starring Walter Emanuel Jones, David Yost, Johnny Yong Bosch, Catherine Sutherland, Steve Cardenas, Barbara Goodson, Charlie Kersh and Benny Joy Smith alongside other cast members, this film is directed by Charlie Haskell. Becca Barnes and Alwyn Dale join the crew are screenplay writers. Ollie Jones is the director of photography, while Brad Davidson joins as the editor with music by Ron Wasserman. So without any further ado, here are some of those moments.
Nostalgic Moments From Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Once and Always
It’s Morphin Time
Said multiple times throughout the show. It really does not get old, especially when the original cast members come back and deliver the lines exactly as we remembered them from childhood. While they power up, they have to say that phrase so their suits come on. In case the internet has not forgotten, the ‘It’s Morbin time’ meme was also born from this catchphrase rendering Twitter in stitches.
The Suits
It would have been expected to change the suits to make them more relatable to the present context. Still, the creators decided to lean heavily on the lycra and create the same texture for the Ultra High Definition camera capturing every little sheen and glare on the costume and the helmet. Additionally, even the villains were given their same old extravagant costume made of a material that barely looks realistic but is supposed to be costumey. It gave viewers enough nostalgia to remember that time when those costumes were iconic.
Mastadon! Pteradactyl! Saber-Tooth Tiger! Triceratops!
When the cast members were powering up, they announced their dinozord so they could call on them when required. But it is also the thing that gives them the dino-power in the first place. The camera focuses on each of these cast members with a border of highly nostalgic animation from the 90s that makes it seem like no time has passed. The comfort this moment gives makes it truly nostalgic.

‘Attitude’
Even though all of these Rangers have grown up to be adults, some even becoming leaders like Zack turning into a Congressman, but the feeling of Attitude never seems to leave them alone. Now that they have Minh to take care of, we get a firsthand look at how over-emotional teenagers can wreak havoc on the planet with the right tools. But the idea is to have them train properly so they can be the ones securing their future on this planet. They cannot let revenge but justice drive them to reach their goals, and that is what happened to Minh in the movie.
Dinozords Team Up
When the enemy gets too big, the Rangers must get into their designated Robotic dino to defeat them. In this movie too, by the end, the enemy became too physically tall to be handled by a few ground-inhabiting Rangers, so they all teamed up in order to become a Megazord strong enough to use its sword, titled the Power Sword, which can transmit electricity and injure the enemy immediately incapacitate the villain. This brings us right back to the victorious feeling at the end of each episode when the enemy is defeated.
Villainy Villains
Gone are the anti-heroes we feel for. This movie brought us back to the time when villains were just bad and wanted to remove all humans so they could have a field day with their followers. In this one, the villain goes to extreme lengths, even involving time travel, to tell her past self all that the Rangers will put her through, maybe even stopping Zordon from creating the teenage superheroes in the first place.
Quips and Writing
Whether it be the extremely dramatic “We have to stop her,” or the way they make lame jokes in order to call each other out on their shenanigans, the writing delivers on all fronts. If you’re a fan of the way the 90s decided to be subtly savage, this film gives that, and some dad jokes that truly make this the carbon copy of the classic we grew up watching. Intense fight sequences have got nothing on the way they portray relationships in these shows.
