Even though the movie universe is known to be notoriously hush-hush about including queer couples in their projects, fans have taken this opportunity to create their own. To honour that, here are some MCU Characters As LGBTQ Couples, showing how cute they would be. To be honest, most of these characters have incredible homo-erotic tension throughout the series of films, and it seems like they never acted on it, even though it would have made a lot of sense.
Fortunately for you guys, this writer loves the MCU and the queer vibes, so this list of characters does not just include popular ships that have been going viral on the social media platforms but also some niche ones that people may not have noticed in the beginning but could have made sense if they included it in the films. A few couples mentioned here are so obvious that it is truly surprising that they were written that way without any payoff. So without any further ado, here are the couples that we think would work perfectly with each other.
MCU Characters as LGBTQ Couples
Steve Rogers/Captain America – Bucky Barnes/The Winter Soldier

In the entirety of the Captain America trilogy, the two characters revolved around each other like spinning black holes, not caring what happened to anyone around them. Steve Rogers even went against the UN for Bucky Barnes. It is truly not a reach to put these two characters. Additionally, their personalities were so compatible, even when he turned into the Winter Soldier. And if the Stark presentation at the World Fair outing is not convincing anyone, then they should look at the scene again. Bucky and Steve are made for each other, longing looks and all.
Tony Stark/Iron Man – Bruce Banner/Hulk

Even though they’re called the science bros, they have a lot of vibes, especially in Age of Ultron, where they work together to create not one but two incredibly super-powered individuals. It is almost like they are the fathers of the android and gave birth to all its mental and physical capabilities. Additionally, their banter and their married couple bickering are too good to miss out on. And if the sequence where Tony and Bruce hug in Avengers: Infinity War didn’t make anyone question just for a little while, then they are lying because you could see the love and desperation in that gesture.
Thor – Bruce Banner/Hulk

Yes, yes, we’re repeating a character only because a single film changed everything about the way we perceived the two. Back in the first Avengers, they were arch-rivals. However, Bruce and Thor have this calm x chaotic partner trope in Thor: Ragnarok that is too amazing because the calm one and the chaotic one keep changing. Thor’s trust in Bruce and the way the scientist respects the strength the God of Thunder brings everywhere is just one of the reasons why they would be a banger couple together.
Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow – Maria Hill

In case anyone hasn’t seen Agents of SHIELD, Maria and Natasha have a great conversational relationship. Good enough that they can make fun of each other and also be combat partners taking down any bad guy standing in the way of their mission. Additionally, imagining the close physical proximity in which they live and the incredible athletic presentation happening all the time, it is quite possible that Natasha and Maria could have been a power couple in SHIELD, making out as a wayward explosion takes place behind them.

Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel – Maria Rambeau

In Captain Marvel, the first instalment, we see these two characters in the 90s living together and working together in a military setting, on a private project. However, in the flashbacks that Carol sees, they have the most domestic relationship ever. Taking care of Maria’s daughter together, going to the arcade, drinking and dancing in bars together. But the thing that really makes their relationship border on romantic is the strong reaction Maria has to Carol leaving them both. It would have made all the sense if the latter stayed back and lived her life with Maria.
Kate Bishop/Hawkeye – Yelena Belova

If the Hawkeye show was any indication, Yelena and Kate have an amazing dynamic. With so much potential for them to insert an enemies-to-lovers pipeline in the story, this is not something unrealistic. Marvel could actually make this happen for our two complex female characters with their strong moral compasses and even stronger abilities to be fangirls. Their fight scenes in the show were incredible, with the banter between them even better. There is obviously drama and tension, but also this maturity that both of them possess, knowing the kind of things they’ve been through.
Loki Laufeyson – Mobius M Mobius

A man obsessed with Loki, and then there’s Mobius, who’s also obsessed with Loki. While the series made it seem that the character doesn’t have the capacity to love anybody than himself. It is a depressing ordeal, and fans want nothing to do with it. Fortunately, they got hooked on the way Loki and Mobius interact with each other. Meanwhile, there was a lot of betrayal and angst. Still, the two find their way back together, and after the scene in Ant-Man and Wasp: Qauntamania, it is entirely plausible for the showrunners to explore something with these two characters.
Shuri – Riri Williams

Two scientists who are creating tech that others couldn’t even dream of? This is exactly the kind of thing that makes the romance genre interesting as hell. Seeing these two characters start off rocky, with Riri even threatening violence with a boombox, the growth in their relationship as friends and scientists is so wholesome that they have to get together. Additionally, imagining these two well-versed in Gen Z language, leaving everyone confused, is an image filled with so many vibes that the MCU has to add an incident in the multiverse where the two of them are together as girlfriends.
All of the aforementioned titles are currently streaming on Disney+ Hotstar.
