The movie starts with Jai (Mahath) getting a phone call from Archana (Varalaxmi), who checks his whereabouts. Apparently, they’re a couple, and we have no clue how she looks and who she is. On the other side, Jai looks stressed, and right when he is about to cut the call, he hears a woman’s cry for help. Jai climbs on the fence and witnesses a gang kidnapping a teenager. Jai takes a video of that and rushes to the nearby police station.
Inspector Gurunathan calms him down and joins Jai in the crime area. Over there, we find that the inspector is an ally of thug Naga and he suggests they find Jai. The scene cuts to Archana, who is also a police officer. We get a picture of what happened the night she called Jai and about her relationship with him. Along these storylines, we are introduced to 3 other important characters, but the way their identities are unravelled really stood out.

In the first few minutes of the movie, where a police officer makes lame jokes, I had a feeling that the movie would turn disastrous. However, that same old chap had his own moment towards the end of the film, making me take back my thoughts. The suspense factor is huge in Maruthi Nagar Police Station, and that’s a big bonus.

The more we watch, the more the mysteries pop up, and it’s hard to fix the pieces. Who is this ACP (Arav), and why is he in the whole picture all of a sudden? This is a question that kept my curiosity high, and the answer I received is decent. While the plotline felt a bit rushed, it didn’t perplex me. The alignment of the scenes had a flow, and the movie altogether is a decent execution of a tight crime plot with a good cast.

The locations they’ve chosen correspond well to the needed scenario. The nice aspect of the movie is that it looks like a fine-budget movie, not too expensive and not too low; it’s the right fit. However, due to the colour grading in certain scenes, it made me feel like the movie’s production team didn’t invest more.
Especially in the mortuary scene, the frame and the colour grading reminded me of TV serials. One can differentiate a silver screen from a TV series with the camera equipment the crew uses. Sadly, the equipment used in this movie didn’t give me the big-screen vibe at all. This isn’t necessarily a drawback for the flick, but if the investment in professional equipment were done, I think the movie would have felt legit to be premiered in theatres as well. Nevertheless, this is an OTT release, so it’s justifiable.

Maruthi Nagar Police Station Review: Final Thoughts
Neat, concise, thrilling, and complete. There aren’t any loopholes, exaggerations, unnecessary commentaries, and such. The revenge mission executed well while also confusing the four friends of Jai. The mystery around the killer, when revealed, felt convincing, but the flashback could have been a bit stronger—it was too short and hasty.
