Love From 9 to 5 Review
In this Netflix workplace romance series, we see professional rivalry and an enemies-to-lovers arc blending seamlessly, giving us a lighthearted affair that one can watch if bored without trying to think of anything further. The series surrounds Graciela, a woman who has worked extremely hard for the CEO position at a lingerie company, only for the boss’s son to arrive and threaten her position.
The series is much like others in the genre and tries to be nothing more than a feel-good watch without putting too much pressure on viewers to look deeper. It brings forth important questions and then chooses to ignore them all for something more vanilla and thoughtless. Those who love something deeper will find themselves frustrated with the series’s refusal to go deeper and find something more meaningful, while the utter predictability of the plot will also haunt you from time to time.

There’s nothing that you haven’t seen in this film, and it treads down known paths that are both insufferable and oddly comforting. It’s a fun and effective watch that plays on the office romance genre and puts two people together who, despite their insane attraction to one another, must keep things professional and try to land the same job. It’s able to hold on to the “will they/won’t they” tension well and keeps us rooting for the two protagonists.
The series works mostly because of Ana González Bello and Diego Klein’s insane chemistry with one another, which makes the sparks go off from the first scene. You understand why they are attracted to each other, which makes us root for their relationship while enjoying their transition from enemies to lovers. It’s a flirty and cute affair that often leaves a smile on your face, and Bello & Klein make sure to give us butterflies throughout.

There are not many things happening in the series apart from these two pushing and pulling on one another, although the workplace dynamics beyond them are also entertaining. It’s humorous and satirical and will leave you quite entertained throughout. As mentioned earlier, it lightly focuses on some important workplace topics without getting into the details, which might be a blessing for those who don’t want heavy drama or seriousness.
Final Thoughts

I am well aware that Love From 9 to 5 is quite predictable in every way. However, I think it makes for great entertainment if you need something familiar, tropey and light. Otherwise, you can see through the predictability of the storyline from the first moment.
