Loki Season 2 Episode 5 Recap
In the new episode, after the Temporal Loom mishap, Loki finds himself alone at the TVA, but he starts time-slipping again. Loki lands up in Alcatraz and meets Casey. However, Casey has no memory of knowing Loki. The God of Mischief has no idea how he got here. We learn that here, Casey goes by the name Frank.
Loki time slips again and lands in 2012 in New York, a branched timeline. Hunter B-15 is a doctor in this timeline and is seen talking to a young girl patient. Loki arrives there and disappears without talking to her. However, she watches his time slip and is shocked.
Mobius works at a Piranha Powersports shop, where he sells Jetskis in the 2022 branched timeline of Cleveland, Ohio. After timeslipping from 2012, Loki arrives in Mobius’ timeline, where his name is Don. Even Mobius or Don can’t recognise them. Loki tells him the TVA is gone, but Don has no clue about anything. We learn that Doni has children, but before we can know anything else, Loki’s time slips.

The God of Mischief now finds himself in another branched timeline of 1994 in Pasadena, California. This timeline has Oroborus, but his name is AD Doug, and he is taking a book from a library. He’s a science fiction fan. Oroborus/Doug has a big board with chits containing lots of clues. He lives in some kind of compound that resembles his TVA office. Loki slips there and is relieved to see Oroborus.
Loki tells Doug everything about the TVA. For Doug, a sci-fi genre fan, whatever is happening is a dream come true, as one of the characters from his book The Sons of Yoren has come to life. Doug is a writer and a scientist. Loki wants Doug to help him get back to the time before the temporal loom melts. However, Doug says that’s impossible, but that shouldn’t stop him.
Doug tells Loki how he time-travelled to a place that has no time, which is impossible. If he can travel to a place that doesn’t exist, maybe he can travel to the time before the Temporal Loom melted. He wants Loki to learn how to control time slippage. Loki says he can’t control it, and it happens randomly. Doug reminds him that it isn’t random, as it takes him to places and people he’s looking for. Maybe Loki is not just slipping in time but also moving around places.

Doug/Oroborus asks Loki why he needs to do this. Loki says if he doesn’t protect the TVA from getting destroyed, there won’t be anything left to protect from what’s coming. Doug says if that’s the “why” that’s guiding him, he should be able to control his time slipping. Loki takes Doug’s advice and tries to time slip, but nothing happens. Doug tries to freak out Loki to make something happen, but it results in nothing.
Loki asks Doug how science can help him save his mission. He asks how he can get to a place that doesn’t exist. Doug tells him maybe it exists as Loki himself time-travelled from the TVA to The Time Theatre. Doug says if that has happened, maybe the place he’s looking for exists. Doug hands him a cup with pens in it and reminds Loki how every friend of his has a temporal aura. So collectively, they all have an aura unique to that time. So it is important to get them all together.
Loki wants Doug to make a TemPad, but Doug says it might take a whole lifetime. Thankfully, Loki has the TVA guide with him and shows it to Doug. He tells Doug he, as Oroborus, wrote that book, and it has every knowledge about the TVA. Loki gives him the book, and suddenly time slips back to Mobius aka Don’s timeline, this time outside his home.

In Loki Season 2 Episode 5, we find out that Don has two sons. Loki greets him, and Don wonders if he followed him home. Loki says he was just passing by when he saw him and thought he’d say sorry for not sticking around the shop. Don tells Loki that he has something that will help him and shows him the Jet Skis kept in his garage.
Loki tells Mobius/Don that he’s not here to buy the Jet Ski. But Don starts getting suspicious of him. Suddenly, Doug arrives there using the Time Door he opened through the TemPad. Loki asks him how he managed to complete the task so fast. Doug tells him that it has been 19 months. Don is confused about everything. Loki tells him everything about the TVA. Don says he can’t leave his boys. Loki tells him that he can come back any time and shows how time travelling works.
Loki tells Don that everyone is in danger, including his boys. Loki then uses the TemPad to get Hunter B-15 and Casey from their respective branched timelines. They all meet in Doug’s room as they all prepare to save the TVA. Now Loki has to convince only one person – Sylvie.

Sylvie is outside the McDonalds, and Loki arrives there with his Time Door. However, Sylvie remembers him. Loki is surprised that she remembers him. Loki tells Sylvie everything about how everyone’s life was taken away from them because of the TVA. Loki wonders if Mobius would like to be back at the TVA if given a choice, as he always liked at the TVA.
Sylvie reminds Loki that it was He Who Remains who brought Mobius to the TVA. But Loki says that Mobius and others have the choice now if they want to return to the TVA or not. Sylvie is not in support of his idea, as she believes it would rip these people from their current lives. Loki says he can’t give them a choice without her. All Loki wants to do is save the TVA.
Sylvie keeps asking him why he wants to do that. An emotional Loki says he wants his friends back. He doesn’t want to be alone. Sylvie says they are both selfish. Loki wonders where he belongs without them. Sylvie tells Loki to write his own story, like everyone else is writing their own. Loki comes back to Doug’s place and tells everyone to go back home.

Loki Season 2 Episode 5 Ending Explained: Does Sylvie Return to Help Loki?
Sylvie goes to a music record store, and the manager gives her a vinyl records album that would make her feel better. Sylvie gets emotional listening to it. However, everything turns into shreds in a few moments. Sylvie uses her TemPad and uses the Time Door to go somewhere. At Doug’s place, everyone is baffled after Loki tells them to go back to their lives. They ask him what about the TVA and the mission to save it. Loki tells everyone they’re fine with the TVA.
However, Sylvie arrives there and tells Loki that no one is fine. She informs them how the branches are dying. Loki reminds OB that everyone is here, and they can use the collective aura to go back. However, the TemPad goes missing, and each one of them starts shredding into pieces, except Loki. Loki is left alone again, and he starts screaming in pain.

The moment Loki screams, he time slips to the time when Sylvie had arrived. He finally managed to control his time-slipping. Loki tells Sylvie how he can rewrite the story. He time slips back to the time before the Temporal Loom melted.
